Things to do in Lake Como
Lake Tours
Lake tours will allow you to see some the most beautiful villas of Lake Como including Villa Erba, Villa D’Este, Villa Fontanelle (former Versace Villa), Villa Pliniana, Villa Oleandra (George Clooney’s Villa) and Villa del Balbianello.
Enjoy stunning views of Comacina Island, the Roman bridge of Nesso, a cascading waterfall, and the majestic Alps in the background.
Recommended lake tour companies:
Explore Towns around the Lake
Bellagio, referred to as the pearl of the lake with its centuries-old buildings, cobbled stairways and lanes. Restaurants and bars line the lakeside, where you can enjoy a meal or a drink overlooking the water and the surrounding mountains as well as the grand Villa Melzi.
A short walk along narrow stairways and paths leads you away from the heart of Bellagio to the small fishing port of Pescallo. From here, it's a scenic walk to Punta Spartivento, the very tip of the peninsula where the two arms of Lake Como meet. Looking north toward the Alps, the views are unrivaled with the distant peaks lording over the lake and surrounding hillside and forests.
Varenna and Menaggio also sit on the shore of the lake, not far from Bellagio. The three towns are linked by a ferry, forming the “golden triangle”.
Hiking and Biking
Spend long hours exploring the countryside on foot or by bike. The trails flank the lakeside or wind up and down the hills affording captivating glimpses or panoramic views over the blue lake waters. Try the Hike to San Martino.
