Immersed in Antigua and Barbuda

Curated by
Megan Harris
Antigua and its sister island, Barbuda have so many wonderful reasons to lure guests to their pink sand and powder white shores. The islands are well known for their 365 white-sand beaches, being the heart of the Caribbean sailing community, the UNESCO World Heritage site Nelson’s Dockyard and its superb cuisine (a true foodie island!). The island's heritage is steeped with much UK & Afro-Caribbean culture. Barbuda is also home to the largest Frigate bird colony in the Eastern Caribbean. You can jam pack your days on the island or opt to just lime the local way. Gentle, balmy, beach-filled days are so very important in the islands' beautiful, vibrant and wide-open-hearted community.

Romantic Antigua: A Honeymoon Guide

In January 2025, my wife and I got married in Pennsylvania. A warm honeymoon destination is exactly what we needed after a cold and snowy wedding week. We had heard amazing things about Antigua, and it did not disappoint. From the extremely quick airport experience, to the beautiful sunsets and brand new resort, we were very thankful to visit. Honeymooning in Antigua was the cherry on top to our brand new marriage. It will be somewhere we revisit down the line to bring back some amazing memories.

Jumby Bay holds a special place in my heart because it was where we celebrated my dad's 80th birthday with our extended family of nine. Staying in a private villa, we experienced impeccable service and unforgettable moments. Our butler, Nyoki, anticipated our every need, and Chef Garrett's culinary creations were nothing short of amazing. From the breathtaking views to the fun-filled activities like tennis, snorkeling and the kids club, every detail was perfect. It was a celebration that created lasting memories in a truly beautiful setting.

Antigua & Barbuda: A Romantic Island Paradise

Antigua and Barbuda is an absolute island paradise with breathtaking beaches and crystal clear waters. I was fortunate enough to spend a romantic Valentine's Day trip exploring the incredible island. We stayed on Dickenson Bay Beach and used that as our home base for all of our explorations. You could easily spend every day on the beach in Antigua (there are 365 of them, after all.) But this tiny island has a lot more to offer. It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway!

How to Spend Your Week in Antigua

After lots of research, I chose Antigua to visit for my honeymoon. The island is the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, romance and culture. The island is known for its 365 beaches while being a 90 minute boat ride away from Barbuda where you can walk for miles down the pink sand beaches. The island is small enough to take a circumnavigation tour while being big enough to continuously find new adventures.

"Get Ready to be Wowed: Exploring Antigua by Land and Air!"

If you're planning a trip to the beautiful island of Antigua, then you're in for a treat. It's known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and warm hospitality. This Caribbean gem has plenty to offer for every type of traveler. And if you want to truly experience the island like never before, then a helicopter tour is a must-do activity.
We recently had the opportunity to do so through Calvin Air, and we couldn't recommend them enough. The helicopters were modern and sparkling-clean. But it was the people who really made the experience unforgettable. The pilot and front desk ladies were kind and knowledgeable. Plus, it was our first time in a helicopter, and we can proudly say we've crossed it off our bucket list.

Antigua is such a beautiful island. From its relaxing beaches (there are 365 of them with a few pink ones) to its culture and charm, there is nothing that this island doesn't have. You can take the ferry to its sister island Barbuda to relax at Princess Diana Beach, go lobster fishing, zip lining, visit private islands and explore Wadadi Animal Nature Park while still having so much to see.

Life at Sandals Grande Antigua

Curated by
Kelly Weber
Antigua, especially Sandals Grande Antigua, is very near and dear to my heart. My husband and I honeymooned there in 2008 and have traveled back several times. This particular resort will feel like two resorts in one! One side of the resort gives you that Caribbean feel we all know and love, while the other side provides a Mediterranean coast vibe. This resort can be as little or as much as you want it to be!
