The Cayman Islands

Grand Cayman is most known for its beautiful Seven Mile Beach, and let me tell you, it IS beautiful! But there is also so much more to explore and enjoy on this island and so many adventures that await. It’s a perfect Caribbean destination for families who want water activities that keep everyone excited for the full trip.

Seven Mile Beach doesn’t play around. Powder-white sand, water so clear it barely looks real and sunsets that shut down the day in style. If you’re coming to Grand Cayman, you want beachfront, top-tier service and that blend of relaxation and luxury that makes you feel like you’ve made it.

In early October 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting the island of Grand Cayman (pronounced Cay-Mahn). I spent four glorious nights at the Kimpton Seafire. I also had the chance to visit The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Heights, Hotel Indigo, Vida, and enjoy the coolest cooking class at Nourish Restaurant, where we made a coconut ceviche. This whirlwind adventure, hosted by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism and Virtuoso, was a dream! Unlike many other Caribbean destinations, Grand Cayman’s infrastructure is wonderful. The roads are pristine, and the airport? Spotless, efficient and filled with friendly smiles — a refreshing change from my usual NYC hubs!

I’ve been lucky to visit the Cayman Islands 10 times and during most milestones of my life: my 20s, my wedding on Grand Cayman, honeymoon on Cayman Brac, babymoon and now, with my young kids. Grand Cayman is a special place. It is beautiful. It is small and extremely navigable. It is safe. The people are welcoming. It has amazing food and beaches. And a Cayman sunset cannot be beat.

A week in the Cayman Islands can be a fantastic tropical getaway that is perfect for families with young children or with high school and college age. I got married in the Cayman Islands and have returned several times with my family since then, including an Easter break. The Cayman Islands are known for their stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters and scuba diving to experience the vibrant marine life. Hotels are available for all budgets along the beautiful seven-mile beach and many have family rooms and suites to accommodate all family sizes.

Grand cayman is the biggest of three islands located just south of Cuba. From luxurious Hotels and the most amazing restaurants serving local and international dishes to incredible spots to go snorkeling and diving, we tried everything Grand Cayman had to offer in our five day trip to the island. Spring break is our favorite time to sneak away for some sunshine and family fun, and Grand Cayman delivers in every way. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is one of those rare properties that manages to be luxurious and totally kid-friendly at the same time. From the sugar-white sand and clear blue water to the thoughtful service and little details that made our kids feel like VIPs, every moment felt like a dream. It’s the kind of trip that reminds you why making memories through travel is so worth it.
