Barbados is a gorgeous country with incredible white sand beaches and welcoming locals. With direct flights from JFK just under four hours, it's hard not to dream of the clear water and sunshine during the cold winter months. That's why Barbados is an awesome retreat for a long weekend or week-long holiday. Visit the island's popular west side for pristine white sand beaches (which are all public!) and snorkel among sea turtles and various wildlife. But don't miss out on visiting the east side, which boats jungle-like terrain and waves suited for the world's best surfers. Their laid-back lifestyle will quickly have you returning to the island time and time, that and of course the amazing food and rum punches!
