South Korea is a unique and captivating destination. A land of ancient temples juxtaposed by high-tech modern cities, South Korea offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Three of the most popular destinations in South Korea for travelers are Seoul, Busan and Jeju-do. Seoul is the largest city in the north. Busan is the largest port city in the South, and Jeju is an island off the southern coast of South Korea. Each of these regions offers unique sightseeing, culture and cuisine.

Popularly known as the “Hawaii of South Korea”, Jeju Island is the perfect addition for travelers visiting Seoul and the greater region. The island is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, gorgeous beaches, extensive hiking trails, delicious food and a unique cultural environment. Seoul is a foodie’s dream, with so many delicious dishes and flavors to explore, from casual street food to cozy local spots, to fine dining and chef's table experiences. From the traditional to the experimental, there’s always something new to try!

Chuncheon, South Korea, is a beautiful mid-size city that is about a 1.5 hour train ride from Seoul on the Korail ITX train. Nestled among lakes, rivers and mountains, the natural scenery is a nice contrast to the big city lights of Seoul. Chuncheon has a slower pace than Seoul, but many opportunities for outdoor adventure and fun!

After living in Busan since 2016, it has become my second home. Busan is where the mountains meet the sea, offering an incredible mix of outdoor adventure and vibrant culture. A few hours by train southeast of bustling Seoul, Busan offers a smaller and slower vibe, pleasant weather, excellent public transit and some of the freshest seafood you can find.

I cannot count the number of breathtaking views I have enjoyed from the local mountain trails, or the amazing nights shared relaxing with friends on one of the beaches. The cuisine in its self is enough to merit a visit to Busan. I must recommend a trip to one of the many natural hot spring-fed saunas to recharge your body and soul.
