A Full Review of the Norwegian Encore: Alaska Edition
Curator’s statement

In August of 2023, I embarked on an Alaskan Cruise with the Norwegian Encore. The ports were amazing, the staff was extra attentive and there was always something to do onboard. I found this vacation to be perfect for both families and solo travelers and it was an astounding way to view Glacier Bay National Park.

Norwegian Cruise Lines stick out from other lines, for they are more all-inclusive. With their Free at Sea package, alcohol is included, on top of a few specialty dining meals (depending on length), a wifi package and shore excursion credits toward each port. I cannot stress enough how handy those shore excursion credits came - especially in a place like Alaska where there is adventure everywhere you turn.

The ship has over 20 restaurants, with five of them being free of charge, multiple bars and unique features such as a go-kart track, a virtual reality arcade and laser tag. Housing about 4000 guests, this ship is perfect for families and multi-gen trips. The Encore is also distinctive from other ships for it has solo cabins (not very popular in the cruise world), where solo travelers can economically travel.

The ship hosts a wide variety of meet ups and events (solo travelers, kids, LGBTQ+ etc.) making this a very inclusive line to sail with. There is truly something for everybody onboard.

If heading to Alaska, I absolutely recommend this ship to families, solo travelers and groups. It is important to note that with about 20 decks — this isn't a small ship. This is a megaship with all of the bells and whistles. So if you are looking for something that feels like a luxury all-inclusive resort at sea? This is for you! I am well-versed in cruise travel, so if interested in any Alaskan cruise at all reach out to me and I would be more than happy to discuss ship options and itineraries with you.
