Paris never ceases to amaze me, blending timeless elegance with modern experiences. On a recent trip, I had the pleasure of discovering some exclusive and extraordinary adventures that go beyond the typical tourist attractions. This journey was all about exploring the enchanting City of Light in a way that seasoned travelers can truly appreciate. Here’s what to do in Paris to see a different side of the city.

Day 1: VIP arrival, facials & countryside glamour

Upon arriving at the airport, you’ll be greeted by a VIP escort as you disembark the plane. As a traveler myself, this is something I insist upon for my clients after long journeys. The fast track through passport control is a breeze and you’ll have luggage assistance. It’s a hassle-free and elegant way to begin any trip.

Instead of heading directly into the bustling city, ease into the serene countryside just outside Paris. Check into Château Mont Royal, a stunning hotel that provides the perfect retreat to shake off any jet lag. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage or facial at the spa. I can’t resist getting a facial while in France because the French just know skincare. You’ll be glowing for days!

Later that evening, enjoy a gourmet dinner in the hotel’s Opera restaurant. This beautiful space once served as a music room for a French composer — what a magical setting!

  • Fora's IHG Destined perks at InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal include $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Day 2: Art, food & shopping

Château de Chantilly & amenities at Paris Le Grand

Waking up refreshed, you must visit Château de Chantilly, which houses the largest collection of art in France outside of the Louvre. The palace is impeccably preserved and offers a glimpse of the opulent lifestyle of the aristocracy. The area is stunning and attracts well-heeled Parisians looking for a respite just outside of the city,  horse-racing enthusiasts and luxury tourists in the know.

Then head into Paris! There is no shortage of charming bistros like La Dame de Paris to enjoy traditional favorites like croque monsieur, quiche and chicken paillard before settling into a luxurious suite at one of Fora’s partner properties. My favorite hotels include Paris Le Grand, Hotel Lutetia and Relais Christine.

Since Paris is synonymous with fashion, start your stay with a shopping tour led by a personal stylist (which I can arrange for you). Discover the latest Parisian trends at Galleries Lafayette, Le Printemps or Samaritaine, luxury department stores near the city center. When you get weary of all of the shopping, take a break in the store’s VIP salon reserved exclusively for personal shopping clients.

Personal shopping service comes with perks like discounts and assistance with VAT processing — definitely a win!  Pro tip: Hit the rooftop at Galleries Lafayette and Le Printemps for incredible views of the city. End your day with dinner at the iconic Café de la Paix, where you can relish traditional French cuisine in an elegant atmosphere.

  • Fora's IHG Destined perks at InterContinental Paris - Le Grand include $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

  • Fora Perks at Lutetia Paris include $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

  • Fora Perks at Relais Christine include €90 spa credit, a welcome amenity, an upgrade whenever possible and late check-out.

Day 3: More food, fashion & cabaret

Yves St. Laurent's workshop & Relais Christine

Begin your morning with a leisurely breakfast in the club lounge of your hotel or venture out to Carette or Café Angelina to enjoy a perfect hot chocolate and croissant.

Next, I recommend a private tour of the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris, where you’ll step into the world of one of fashion’s most iconic designers. This museum beautifully showcases Yves Saint Laurent’s groundbreaking influence on haute couture, from his early sketches to his legendary creations. It’s an intimate and inspiring experience for anyone who admires fashion history.

From there, your private driver, of course arranged by your Fora travel advisor (like myself), will whisk you to La Galerie Dior.  This stunning museum spans 13 thematic rooms, offering an immersive journey through over 70 years of Dior’s history. Each room is a masterpiece, blending fashion history with artistic innovation. Take your time here; it’s a must-visit for style aficionados.

For lunch, indulge at The Alain Ducasse Baccarat restaurant, a culinary gem where the elegance of Baccarat crystal meets the world-class expertise of chef Alain Ducasse. The ambiance is as exquisite as the cuisine. If the weather is mild, visit one of my favorite restaurants, Lou Lou. You’ll enjoy lunch in a lovely garden setting with views of the Eiffel Tower, the I.M. Pei-designed glass pyramid and the Louvre.

The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your own pace. Perhaps take a walk through the Jardin des Tuileries or stroll along the Seine. Paris is very walkable; don’t think you need to rely on a taxi, Uber or the Métro to get around.

As evening approaches, dress to impress and head out for an unforgettable night at Crazy Horse, one of Paris’s most legendary cabaret shows. The performance is sophisticated, artistic and quintessentially French. If that's not your style, go to Silencio in the 2nd, or to Colonia in the 1st for the best speakeasy vibes that embody the unique spirit of Parisian nightlife. Enjoy your time exploring the city's vibrant nightlife scene!

When you return to your hotel, unwind with a delightful bedtime tea service waiting for you — a thoughtful touch that ensures your day ends as elegantly as it began.

Day 4: Gardens, boutiques & Chinese food

Let’s visit my favorite neighborhood, Paris's 6th district, also known as Saint Germain des Près. (You’re already here if you booked your stay at a Fora favorite like Relais Christine or Hotel Lutetia.) Start the day with people watching at Café de Flore or Les Deux Magots.

Spend the late morning exploring Jardin du Luxembourg, a beautiful park with stunning gardens, fountains and statues. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the gardens. Saint Germain is known for designer boutiques and unique shops as well as art galleries and bookstores. Immerse yourself in this quintessential Parisian neighborhood.

If you are getting hungry for dinner and in the mood for something other than French food, Taokan is a sophisticated Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood that beautifully blends traditional Cantonese flavors with contemporary French influences. If you want to extend you stay, explore all the things to do in Marseille (meandering medieval streets, exploring historic harbors and sampling seafood among them).
