Curator’s statement

Italy is one of the most magical places and there are so many places to visit that it can be overwhelming! The Amalfi Coast is one of those places that you wouldn't expect to be so beautiful, but once you arrive, you are blown away. Both Positano and Capri are two places you must visit. They are full of the best food, surreal views and the kindest people.

Things to do in the Amalfi Coast

Getaway to the Amalfi Coast: Positano and Capri - Things to do

Beach Clubs: In both Positano and Capri, you can visit peaceful and magical beach clubs. Arienzo Beach Club you can easily access by complimentary boat from Positano to a different part of the island. If visiting Capri, you can also visit Fontelina Beach Club (though it has unremarkable views).

Boat Tours: You can do several different boat tours throughout the Amalfi Coast, but one company that is amazing is Gianni's Boats. You can do private boat tours or group boat tours. I highly suggest private so you get the whole boat to yourself and can bring drinks and food. We took the boat tour once we got to Capri, and it was worth it!

Explore & Shop: Whether you want to walk around each town or hike further there is always something to do in both Positano and Capri.

If you feel like hiking, Positano has the path of the gods hike with remarkable views of the coast. Or, feel free to walk around the town and pop into shops and stores. The town in Capri has many popular designer shops that are well known that include specialty items to their specific store in Capri. There are a ton of jewelry stores that sell fine jewelry and affordable pieces that won't tarnish! Sud Capri is also a boutique store with affordable and amazing clothing items. If you want to get more of a view of the island, take the Monte Solaro chair lift in Anacapri to really get a visual of the scenic beauty of Capri.

Places to eat & drink in the Amalfi Coast

Getaway to the Amalfi Coast: Positano and Capri - Places to eat & drink

Both places have amazing quality foods. Whether you're walking by and popping into a hole-in-the-wall place, there are always places to go. You are surrounded by so many places that offer breakfast and lunch. Feel free to pop in without a reservation at most places if you don't have meals included in your hotel stay!

Day trips in the Amalfi Coast

Getaway to the Amalfi Coast: Positano and Capri - Day trips

If you decide to stay in Positano, I suggest doing a day trip or one to two nights in Capri. Some people like to just go for the day, but I felt that I needed more time to take in the island.
