Still have questions? We got you.

Why would someone book travel through me as an advisor?

Two reasons: the planning process and the travel experience itself. Your clients get to outsource planning to an expert - all the research, curation, detail on room types, amenities, confirming bookings, etc. And when they go on the trip? A better experience overall, thanks to an expert-planned itinerary - plus exclusive perks and benefits thanks to Fora's industry relationships.

Do I need a license to be a Fora Advisor?

Advisors that live in Ontario must receive Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) certification before selling travel to the public. Learn more about becoming an advisor in Canada here.

How do I get clients?

Most people start with their network: friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, etc. From day one with Fora, you can publish a profile and guides on foratravel.com, complete with an inquiry form for leads. Advisors who hit Pro (USD $100k in annual bookings) get access to be matched with leads that come in via HQ.

What does an average travel advisor earn in a year?

Earnings can range over $135k for advisors doing this work full time, or in the $15-70k range for part- timers or more casual advisors just booking for friends and family. Fora doesn’t have quotas so it really depends on your client base, their travel style/frequency, and how much time you want to invest.

How do I get paid?

Travel advisors earn primarily on commissions paid out for travel bookings, and some choose to charge service fees on some or all bookings. Fora handles invoicing and commission tracking, and direct deposits payments to your bank account. At Fora, Canadian advisors are paid in CAD.

How is Fora different from other host agencies?

Fora is most different when it comes to our custom tech (Advisor Portal), strong community, flexible training / booking model, and payments support.

Can I do this alongside my existing work and obligations?

Definitely. In fact, most Fora Advisors start their business alongside other types of work - whether that's a traditional 9-5, a wedding planning business, primary caregiving work, or other.

Why is there a subscription fee? It seems like I'm paying to do work.

You're really paying for the tech platform - which includes access to training, community, and payment management. Think of it as your travel planning 'business in a box.’ Fora enables you to start (or scale) a travel business with minimal startup and operating costs.

What makes a great Fora Advisor?

We look for four main things in prospective advisors: experience not just traveling but planning travel; a high degree of professionalism; ideas for where (and how) to find your first clients; and an entrepreneurial bent. And of course a motivation to join Fora that we feel will be additive to our global advisor community.

Can I plan/book travel for a client going somewhere I haven't visited yet? How?

Yes - Fora has a huge library of on-demand destination-specific training, and a community platform where you can crowd-source intel. That said, we recommend starting with places you've been. Having visited a destination always makes planning it for others easier than relying on secondhand information.

Do I need to register a business to join Fora?

Nope. You can join Fora either as an individual, sole proprietor or registered business entity. Additional requirements may apply depending on your province. In Ontario, advisors must reach Pro status before using a business name. BC advisors are not permitted to use business names.
