Advisor - Adriatic Wellness & Mindfulness Retreat: 14 Days in Italy & Slovenia
Curator’s statement

Italy and Slovenia have always felt like personal sanctuaries to me—a place where time slows, the air smells of citrus and pine, and every meal, view, and ritual invites calm. Over 14 days, this retreat blends mindful luxury with cultural richness: sunrise yoga overlooking turquoise waters, spa treatments inspired by local traditions, journaling sessions in serene gardens, and meals bursting with fresh, seasonal ingredients.

I designed this journey for travelers who want more than sightseeing—they want to pause, reflect, and reconnect. Each day is a gentle invitation to sink into the rhythm of the Adriatic and experience true rejuvenation.

Things to do in Italy & Slovenia

Amalfi Coast, Italy

  • Sunrise yoga at Belmond Hotel Caruso, Ravello: Perched above the sparkling Mediterranean, the gentle morning sun warms the terrace while the sea stretches endlessly below. I love guiding clients through slow stretches here, feeling the breeze carry the scent of lemon groves. Each deep breath seems to untangle tension, and the soft sound of distant waves sets the perfect rhythm for reflection.

  • Cooking class with a local chef: Rolling fresh pasta, zesting Amalfi lemons, and tasting vibrant, sun-soaked flavors—this isn’t just cooking; it’s a hands-on immersion in local culture. Watching the joy on clients’ faces as they taste their creations is one of my favorite moments. By the end of the class, even simple ingredients feel magical.

  • Sunset walks in Amalfi Town: The pastel-colored buildings glow golden as the sun dips toward the horizon. Cobblestone streets invite slow wandering, while local cafes tempt with the aroma of fresh espresso and pastries. I often pause with guests to breathe deeply, take photos, or simply let the moment sink in—it’s impossible not to feel present here.

  • Private boat tour along the coast (optional): Hidden coves, turquoise waters, and secret beaches make this an unforgettable adventure. I love watching clients glide silently across calm waters, spotting small villages and cliffside gardens inaccessible by land—a perfect way to feel the coast’s magic intimately.

Lake Como, Italy

  • Morning meditation at Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como: Sitting on the terrace, I guide clients through gentle meditation as the lake mirrors the morning sky. The soft lapping of water and distant calls of birds create a natural soundtrack. Afterward, journaling here is transformative—ideas and gratitude flow freely in the quiet calm.

  • Villa visits & gardens: Touring Villa del Balbianello’s lush gardens is a sensory delight: the fragrance of roses, the crunch of gravel beneath shoes, and the intricate stonework all encourage mindful observation. I often encourage clients to wander slowly, noticing textures, colors, and hidden nooks—they leave feeling refreshed and inspired.

  • Lakeside dining: Dining by the water transforms even a simple meal into a mindful ritual. Fresh Mediterranean dishes paired with local wines are best enjoyed slowly while gazing at rippling water and distant hills. I love guiding clients to truly taste each bite and pause between sips to absorb the serene surroundings.

Portorož and Lake Bled, Slovenia

  • Spa and wellness at Hotel Slovenija – Terme & Wellness LifeClass, Portorož: Hydrotherapy pools, saunas, and thermal baths create a cocoon of calm. I love watching clients unwind as warm waters soothe sore muscles and aromatherapy fills the air. Ending the session with a mindful swim, floating gently while listening to the sea, is a favorite ritual I always recommend.

  • Mindful walks along the Adriatic in Portorož: The calm seaside promenade is perfect for quiet reflection. Walking slowly, breathing in salty air, and observing the interplay of light on water encourages a sense of presence. I often suggest pausing on a bench, journaling, or simply watching the waves, letting the mind settle naturally.

  • Lake Bled meditation and paddleboarding: Rising early, I guide clients through meditation on the misty shore. Paddleboarding afterward is both active and meditative: gliding across still waters, surrounded by forested hills and the iconic island church, brings a profound sense of peace.

  • Bled Castle visit: Perched above the lake, the castle offers panoramic views and a quiet sense of history. I encourage travelers to linger on the ramparts, breathe deeply, and reflect on the journey so far—the combination of architecture, history, and natural beauty is truly grounding.

Places to eat & drink in Italy & Slovenia

Belmond Hotel Caruso, Amalfi Coast, Italy

Dining here is an experience in slow luxury. Perched atop cliffs overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean, each dish is crafted with farm-fresh, local ingredients. I love watching clients savor a perfectly balanced seafood risotto as the sun dips behind Positano’s colorful rooftops—the terrace feels like a private sanctuary.

Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como, Italy

The lakeside restaurant offers tranquil elegance and Mediterranean flavors with a creative twist. I always recommend arriving early to enjoy the morning calm: the lake mirrors the sky, and each bite of light, seasonal dishes feels intentional. Pair with a crisp local white wine while letting the gentle waves inspire reflection.

La Sponda, Positano, Italy

Michelin-starred dining set among candlelight and lemon trees, La Sponda elevates every meal into a ritual. The chef’s delicate balance of flavors, textures, and colors delights the senses. I often encourage clients to linger over dessert on the terrace, feeling the soft night breeze and watching the twinkling lights of the harbor.

Ristorante Mistral, Ravello, Italy

Here, every dish tells a story of the Amalfi Coast. Seasonal produce, fragrant herbs, and locally caught seafood are paired with views of terraced gardens and the turquoise sea. One of my favorite moments is a quiet afternoon lunch while the sunlight filters through lemon trees, encouraging mindful bites and slow conversation.

A cozy, authentic Slovenian tavern tucked near the lake. Slow-cooked stews, fresh breads, and seasonal vegetables make meals feel like a warm embrace. I often encourage guests to linger with a glass of local wine, absorbing the rustic charm and tranquil lake views.

Vila Ajda, Lake Bled, Slovenia

Perfect for light lunches or afternoon teas, Vila Ajda combines elegance with lakeside serenity. Fresh salads, delicate pastries, and herbal teas invite reflection, while the soft lapping of the lake against the shore creates a meditative soundtrack.
