Day 1: Embrace island life
Upon landing at Nadi International Airport, especially for those coming from North America, your adventure begins early in the morning. Via pre-arranged transfer, head straight to Denarau Island, a hub for tourists. If your room isn't ready for early check-in, seize the opportunity to savor a leisurely breakfast and acquaint yourself with the resort's amenities.
For an evening meal accompanied by scenic views, make your way to Sails, which is located at Port Denarau. Take the opportunity to meander through the nearby shops, where you can find any last-minute vacation necessities. Alternatively, for a dining experience that combines romance with the unique pleasure of sand between your toes, check out Tatavu Grill & Bar. There, you can indulge in a delightful meal as you witness the sky paint itself in the vibrant hues of the setting sun.
Day 2: Bask in a beach club paradise
Fully immerse yourself in the laid-back pace of Fiji by spending a day at one of its exclusive island beach clubs. Short shuttle rides from Denarau Island resorts take you to Port Denarau, where you'll find boats ready to whisk you away.
Consider Malamala Beach Club, a mere 25-minute journey from Denarau, which offers everything from hammocks and poolside daybeds to private cabanas. Delight in a sumptuous lunch menu and indulge in top-tier snorkeling and water sports.
Alternatively, Tivua Island presents a family-oriented luxury experience, with native Fijian management. Sail there on a classic yacht, pick a cabana and enjoy a traditional Fijian buffet lunch complemented by an array of drinks, amid a backdrop of shallow, coral-rich waters.
Day 3: Adventure in Fiji's heartland
A day dedicated to River Tubing in Fiji offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the island. Your destination lies to the south, en route to Fiji's capital, Suva, where the landscape transforms into a verdant paradise. This part of Fiji, especially from November to April, is known for its rain-soaked splendor, but don't let that deter you — the lush setting only adds to the experience.
Board a longboat and venture upriver, navigating through an awe-inspiring world of tropical flora and cascading waterfalls. Along the way, you'll have the chance to step ashore at a traditional village, immersing yourself in local customs and meeting the welcoming inhabitants. Dive into the refreshing waters of a natural waterfall, then enjoy a riverside lunch surrounded by nature's serenity.
The climax of your day comes as you drift back down the river on an inner tube, leisurely riding the gentle rapids under the guidance of your newfound local friends. This unique blend of adventure and cultural immersion showcases the diverse beauty and spirit of Fiji beyond its beaches.
Day 4: Discover the Mamanucas
Exploring the Mamanuca Islands is essential, with Modriki Island being a must-see for its untouched beauty and Hollywood fame. Experience the pristine nature preserved by local villagers, and consider visiting Mana Island, another cinematic gem. These tours often include snorkeling stops at secluded sandbars or visits to local villages, enriching your island-hopping day.
Day 5: Sunbathe & float at Cloud 9
Cloud 9, a floating oasis known from social media fame, offers a unique blend of relaxation and entertainment. Situated off Malolo Reef, a short boat ride from Denarau, this two-level platform features swimming, sunbathing, a bar, wood-fired pizzas and live DJ sets. The return trip at sunset might just turn into an impromptu party on the water.
Days 6: Revel in resort luxuries
Conclude your trip by indulging in the renowned Fijian hospitality within your resort. Treat yourself to a spa day, experience a traditional Fijian bobo massage or partake in cultural experiences like fire dancing, kava ceremonies and lovo dinners. With late departures for North American flights, enjoy a "bonus day" of relaxation, utilizing late checkout or luggage storage services to savor every last moment of paradise.
Need to know
The west side of Viti Levu, where Denarau is located, is sunny year-round, so the "wet" season — November through April — can be a great time to visit if you don't mind a little intermittent rain.
