Site Inspection: Family Weekend at Life House, Berkshires, MA
Curator’s statement

My family of 4 and dog spent the weekend at Life House in the Berkshires. It is only a 2.5 hour drive from the NYC area. The hotel, marketed as a writer's retreat, is a cute redone '50s style motel-hotel a few minutes outside the town of Lenox and near skiing and tubing (we went for the tubing). The common house is super gorgeous and cozy.

The house manager, Justin, was always spot on with all his suggestions/recommendations and was more than happy to show me various rooms.

They have Kings, Doubles and Double King Suites. Great robes, lovely Le Labo toiletries and a smart TV with all the apps - my boys appreciated that they also had You Tube TV.
The Doubles are tight for 4, but still doable for 1-2 nights.
Below are pics from the King Suite, which work really well for a family.

The town of Lenox and nearby Great Barrington are really cool, in that cute middle of nowhere Main St kind of way.

For breakfast/brunch, both GB Eats and Haven are a must! Everyone in our family rated them both 5 stars.

For dinner, we tried The Olde Heritage Tavern (modern pub) and Brava (tapas). OHT also received 5 stars from everyone for their delicious homemade modern pub food. Brava only got 4 stars because as my 11yo put it, their tapas menu was very limited, and as my 8yo put it, it's better in Spain.

Overall, this is a great little road side hotel with tons of potential. High season is summer and leaf-peeping months.
