Terre Blanche Golf Resort: A Luxury Golf Retreat in Provence
Curator’s statement

Terre Blanche, France’s #1 golf resort, has two championship golf courses that deliver both challenge and incredible scenery. What makes it unique is how seamlessly the golf experience blends with the calm, expansive setting of Provence. It feels less like a typical golf trip and more like an immersive retreat. For those who want high-level golf without sacrificing luxury, it’s an exceptional choice.

Terre Blanche is best approached as a destination you build time around rather than simply adding into a larger itinerary. We headed to Terre Blanche between our time in Marseille and Monaco. I typically recommend a minimum of two to three nights to fully experience both courses and the rhythm of the resort. The setting is intentionally quiet and expansive, so it works especially well for travelers who want to slow down and enjoy a more residential, private atmosphere rather than a high-energy environment.

For golf-focused travelers, I suggest prioritizing an early tee time on Le Château Course, followed by a more relaxed round on Le Riou the next day. The two courses complement each other well, offering a balance of challenge and playability without feeling repetitive. If golf is only part of the trip, the resort also lends itself beautifully to a mix of spa time, long lunches, and light exploration of nearby Provençal villages.

I highly recommend dining at La Faventia, the resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant, for an evening that goes well beyond a typical dinner. The experience is refined yet unpretentious, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and regional flavors that reflect the spirit of Provence. It’s the kind of evening that naturally becomes a highlight of the stay—best enjoyed at a relaxed pace, ideally on a night when you’re not rushing to an early tee time the next morning. Our dinner was a highlight of our two weeks in France.

Terre Blanche is also an excellent option for couples where one person golfs and the other prefers a more relaxed pace. The spa, spacious suites, and overall setting make it easy to enjoy the property without needing to leave, while still feeling immersed in the region. For clients looking to combine experiences, I often pair Terre Blanche with a stay along the French Riviera—allowing for a few days of golf and quiet, followed by time on the coast for dining, beach clubs, and a more social atmosphere.

Timing plays an important role here. I typically recommend late spring or early fall when the weather is ideal for both golf and exploring the countryside. Summer is beautiful but warmer, while shoulder seasons tend to offer the most balanced experience overall. Planning tee times and accommodations in advance is key, particularly during peak travel periods, to ensure access to both courses and preferred room categories.

Need to know

The Terre Blanche rooms feel more like a private villa than a hotel stay, with generous square footage, separate living spaces, and terraces that open out to the surrounding countryside. It’s the kind of space that invites you to slow down and actually enjoy being in the room. We enjoyed our time golfing and then luxuriating in our villa.
