Curator’s statement
The Manner feels like a welcome, different addition to SoHo—a hotel with a real identity in a neighborhood full of imitators. Condé Nast Traveler’s take on its “nostalgic utopia” vibe feels spot on: It’s dramatic without being cold, and stylish without trying too hard. The incredible service only deepens the feeling that this place knows exactly what it is.

The Manner feels like such a welcome, genuinely different addition to SoHo. It has a real point of view: It's sexy, dark, moody, and glossy in all the right ways, but still cozy enough to actually want to spend time in. It has a “home away from home” feeling, especially if your home happens to have Hermès-orange walls and high-shine surfaces.

What I loved most is that for all its drama, it never feels cold. The vibe is undeniably sultry and cinematic, but the service is so warm and intuitive that it balances everything out. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for a girls' trip, a romantic couples' weekend, or even a work trip when you want somewhere that feels inspiring and a little transporting at the end of the day.

A huge part of that is the Apartment level, which honestly might be the best thing about the hotel. It’s essentially the lobby on the second floor, but calling it a lobby doesn’t really do it justice. There’s tons of seating, a massive dining-table setup that makes you want to linger, work, meet a friend, or just pretend you live there, and, in the morning, the absolute dream: breakfast and surprisingly good coffee.
The Manner is not a hotel I’d recommend for a weekend with your parents, unless your parents are not the type to need an iPhone flashlight to get around. But that’s also part of its charm: It is fully committed to its mood, and it pulls it off. Stylish, intimate, and self-assured, it feels like one of those rare hotels that doesn’t just look good, but actually has a personality.
