A Fairytale Summer Weekend in Zurich

Curated by
Lauren Keeton
If you think a weekend to Zurich is too much travel for too little time, you’re wrong. My husband and I spent 48 hours in Zurich, and it was the most magical of vacations. We went for live music, which seems very definitely to be a thing in Zurich. It’s a bustling city with art and film festivals, live music, ladies-only baths, cold clear water running down from the Alps into fountains and beer and spritz a- plenty. We stayed at the incredible Dolder Grand overlooking the city, a resort and spa that is so top-notch that I almost felt like never even going into Zurich.

4 Days In Zurich: Travel Itinerary For Culture and Luxury

Amelia Giannarelli
Zurich is a city that effortlessly blends the old and the new, offering visitors a truly unique experience. From its rich history, epitomized by the medieval charm of the Altstadt (Old Town), to its modern, cosmopolitan vibe in the Zurich West district, this city has something for everyone. Zurich's picturesque setting along Lake Zurich and its proximity to the Swiss Alps make it a stunning destination year-round, whether you are hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter. The city's commitment to art and culture, with world-class museums like the Kunsthaus and the Swiss National Museum, offers deep cultural insights.
What makes Zurich particularly special, however, is its impeccable balance of tradition and innovation. It's a hub for finance and business, yet it remains deeply connected to its local Swiss roots. Visitors can enjoy luxury shopping on Bahnhofstrasse, the third most expensive street in the world. While also experiencing intimate moments in cozy cafés or along serene lake promenades. Zurich’s combination of nature, cutting-edge design and cultural heritage creates a sophisticated yet laid-back atmosphere that is truly one-of-a-kind.

Home to cheese and chocolate, Swiss foods will definitely leave your taste buds excited. Traveling as a vegetarian can always be hard, especially when you’re not sure what to expect. While this part of Switzerland is closest to German, you still have a good intersection of French and Italian food influences.

Swiss Bliss: Zurich, Switzerland

Curated by
Noah Rosenfeld
Zurich is at once incredibly metropolitan and quaint, with 1/3 of residents born outside of Switzerland and a population of less than 500,000. Wrapped elegantly around the pristine Zurichsee and nestled between the Alps in the Northeast of Switzerland, Zurich's scenery is straight out of a fairytale. Hop off your train, plane, bus, tram or funicular, the city reveals layers of history, culture and local flair. It will leave you asking ChatGPT how to get a Swiss work visa. Located in the German part of Switzerland, Zurich is squeaky clean, orderly, and has excellent transit that makes it an urbanist traveler's dream. This also means that it's great for a car-free trip as even most of the surrounding nature is easily reached by frequent public transit. There's plenty to love if you only stay in the city as well, with world-class art and culture, surprisingly diverse cuisine, and a welcoming and warm citizenry.

I am either on a trip or planning one and sometimes both at once. I love exploring big cities as much as deserted beaches. A mother of two and an advertising executive, I find joy in making people happy, surprised and fulfilled through travel planning and travel styling.
The daughter of parents who went anywhere and everywhere in a car, sometimes driving across the country and sometimes driving 24 hours at a time. Because of that, I always longed for plane rides and faraway places and moved to NYC to study fashion for college. I’ve lived in NYC, Brisbane, Brooklyn, Santa Monica, Malibu, North Shore of Kauai, Cabo, Phoenix and Manhattan Beach and have local insights to each of those destinations.
