I have been lucky enough to call Seattle home for nearly 10 years. I’ve also had the pleasure of working closely with some of the best hotels in the area during that time to get to know what they have to offer. It’s a destination that offers nature, adventure, as well as arts and culture all at close range. The Emerald City has a lot to offer visitors all year round, but as the weather warms up in the summer, the best things to do and places to eat expand.

In February 2024, I had the pleasure to visit the Palihotel Seattle for a site visit. I had the opportunity to tour a selection of the hotel’s 96 guest rooms, enjoy lunch at The Hart and The Hunter restaurant and spend the afternoon in the cozy lobby lounge. I recommend the Palihotel for any traveler who wants to be in the heart of the action, as the Palihotel is conveniently located across the street from Seattle’s famous Pike Place market and scenic waterfront — perfect for those who want to be out and about and enjoy a true Pacific Northwest experience.

Washington is beautiful at any time of the year, but it really shines in July. Seattle summers are gorgeous but it always feels like a magical combination of perfect weather in July — not too hot, not too cold and rarely rainy. I’ve always loved Seattle because it is a welcoming "Emerald City" surrounded by views of water and mountains, which I find soothing. The diverse food and cultural options are also unparalleled, not to mention the greater Seattle region is easy to get around by ferry, bike, car, train or seaplane.

Known for its vibrant arts scene, Seattle is a haven for creative minds. From the historic Pike Place Market, where local artisans showcase their goods, to the numerous art galleries and theaters, the city exudes a palpable sense of cultural richness. Music enthusiasts will find their nirvana here, as Seattle's legacy in rock music, particularly the grunge movement of the 1990s, has left an undeniable mark on the world.

The Pacific Northwest has an interesting reputation. Known for its towering evergreen forests and Sleepless in Seattle, many people think it’s all coffee, flannel and tech. What many don’t know is that Seattle has something for everyone and while you might not expect it, it’s a wonderful place to visit in the fall and winter seasons with the more moderate temperatures. The Seattle area lights up in the summer season (hello, Lake WA and Lake Union), but really shines during its core more-grey months.

Seattle is a culinary haven, offering a diverse palette from fresh, locally-sourced seafood to innovative farm-to-table experiences, ensuring that every meal is an adventure in taste and sustainability. The city's vibrant activity scene complements its food, with opportunities ranging from exploring the iconic Space Needle for breathtaking views to engaging with the arts at the Seattle Art Museum or enjoying nature in the vast expanse of Discovery Park. This blend of exquisite dining options and a plethora of activities, set against the backdrop of Seattle's lush, natural beauty and cutting-edge urban environment, makes it a must-visit destination for those seeking to indulge their senses and embark on memorable adventures.
