Savannah, Georgia has long been known as a beautiful, historic southern city (and the step-sister to Charleston.) Today, Savannah is much more than southern charm and history, it feels electric. The city is expanding rapidly with new chic hotels, fantastic restaurants and hip rooftop bars. But if culture and history are your thing then Savannah delivers— visit several small-but-well-curated art & history museums, historic churches and even the first Jewish synagogue in the United States. It is reputed that during Sherman's March to the Sea, the General believed Savannah too beautiful to destroy and in turn presented the city to President Lincoln as a Christmas gift!

There’s never a bad time to visit Savannah, but we’ve found Georgia’s low country to be the perfect family retreat for ringing in the new year. It’s a destination made for slowing down, exploring Savannah’s cobblestoned squares, strolling the beaches of the Golden Isles and indulging in Southern comfort food. Great for a couple’s getaway or a multigeneration family vacation, you can truly choose your own adventure in Savannah.

My girlfriends from college and I try to do a girls trip twice a year, each trip visiting a different city that none of us have ever been to. We decided upon Savannah, which was the perfect destination for a two-day trip. Savannah is a super-walkable, beautiful city with amazing food and drinks.

I love Charleston, but have always wanted to explore more of the Southern Lowcountry that encompasses Georgia and South Carolina. After extensive research, I crafted an itinerary that included sightseeing, historical architecture, beautiful low-country beaches and, of course, amazing food! There is so much to see in Savannah and the surrounding Sea Islands and that is where we started. However, you can start in either Savannah or Charleston.

Savannah is a city rich with history and great food. It's also the country's most haunted city — most locals will likely have a personal ghost story or two. It's a relatively walkable city, and it also has a ton of great tours to see and appreciate all parts of Savannah.

Savannah, Georgia is a city that is full of history, charm and delicious food. There are so many great restaurants to choose from when visiting this southern state, but here are the best places I dined at during my *most delicious* New Year's Eve trip in Savannah!

Whether you're here for a week or just a couple days, Savannah, Georgia, is a perfect little getaway. I just visited Savannah this past summer and found the city to be very cute. But, I would advise against going in the summer months as it is very humid (unless you don't mind!). The historic park squares are beautiful and wandering around the historic district will always be a special memory for me.
