Newport, Rhode Island offers a delightful blend of history, luxury and coastal charm. Visitors can explore the opulent Gilded Age mansions, stroll along the scenic Cliff Walk with breathtaking ocean views and enjoy a vibrant waterfront dining scene. Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is renowned for its picturesque beaches, quaint seaside villages and rich maritime heritage. The Cape offers activities ranging from whale watching and biking along the Cape Cod Rail Trail to exploring charming towns like Provincetown and Chatham. Providence, Rhode Island, known for its rich history and vibrant arts scene, is home to prestigious Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. The city’s revitalized waterfront, WaterFire events and eclectic dining options make it a culturally enriching destination. Together, these locations offer a diverse mix of historical exploration, natural beauty and urban sophistication, perfect for a week-long getaway.

The northern East Coast is beautiful in any season. You can take advantage of the Atlantic in the summer, skiing in the winter and the beauty of the changing seasons in the fall and springtime. This road trip begins in Maryland and travels north through Rhode Island, Maine and Massachusetts. Great for any family, this trip allows you to enjoy the outdoors, sample great food and enjoy quintessential New England in all its beauty. Although this particular guide is family-friendly, this itinerary could easily be tweaked and used for a romantic road trip as well.

I visited Newport for the first time this fall for a mother-daughter weekend and instantly fell in love with it's small town vibes and classic New England charm. The coastal city is home to the Gilded Mansions on Bellevue Ave (a must-see), beaches, wineries + breweries, the best food I've had in a while, and overall just a ton of things to do. We already want to go back and visit in a different season! It's one of those few places that is both warm and welcoming no matter when you visit. It's a great place for a romantic getaway, girls' weekend and everything in between.

While summer is undeniably magical, there's something special about Rhode Island all year-round.
