In August of 2024, my husband and I marked our 22nd wedding anniversary in the stunning paradise of Punta Mita, Mexico. This tropical haven, with its lush jungles and pristine beaches, is home to a wide array of resorts catering to every type of traveler and occasion. As a travel advisor, every getaway doubles as a scouting mission. During this trip, we indulged in stays at the luxurious St. Regis Punta Mita and the vibrant W Punta De Mita, spent a rejuvenating day at the Conrad Punta De Mita and conducted a site visit at the prestigious Four Seasons. Here are my takeaways.
Family Fun in Punta Mita

Punta Mita is a beautiful peninsula with diverse wildlife and some of the best beaches in Mexico. With something for everyone, I've traveled to Punta Mita on a girls' trip, couples' trip and multigenerational family trip. It's an easy 2.5-hour flight from DFW or three hours from LAX. You'll fly into Puerto Vallarta and it's a 50-minute drive from the airport.
Two of my favorite hotels are here, St. Regis and Four Seasons. Plus, there are many beautiful villas and condos to rent. Just make sure you're renting 'inside the gates' so you can take a golf cart into town for dinner and shopping.

Our southern neighbor, Mexico, is a country rich in culture, food and history. Its culture is a vibrant mix of pre-Columbian traditions and Spanish influences. When a colleague described Punta Mita on the Nayarit Riveria as the Costa Rica of Mexico, I wasted no time on planning a visit. Punta Mita and Punta de Mita are the same place. Punta Mita is used to refer to the small peninsula, while Punta de Mita is used to refer to the larger area above the peninsula. Punta Mita boasts a breathtaking landscape where lush tropical mountains seamlessly converge with the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean. Its seven main resorts are all Fora Preferred Partners and welcome guests at different price points. I was delighted by the warm hospitality of the locals, the delectable freshness of the food, the luxurious ambiance of the resorts and the impeccable service.

Punta Mita is a short ride from the airport in Puerto Vallerta. When you enter the gates, you are immediately taken to paradise. The lush grounds and incredible beaches make it one of the most beautiful destinations. The luxury accommodations are truly one of a kind, but you feel like you are right at home with a relaxed atmosphere and special dining options like the Mita Mary boat right by the water.
