Sitting atop and in the heart of Portofino, the Splendido and Splendido Mare offer the quintessential luxury, relaxing Italian vacation. I had the opportunity to tour both properties in August of 2024, and I was incredibly impressed by the quality, amenities, and detail-oriented staff. Let's be honest, you could spend a month in Italy and still be left with so much to explore. In this 14-day itinerary, you are going to mostly traverse the northern region with two exceptions: Rome and Sardinia. I originally wrote this itinerary as a honeymoon proposal, so you can bet it is heavy on the romance. What's really amazing is that each area you visit has a vastly different culture than the next. You are truly going to get a little taste of these unique Italian delights. Just be prepared. You will want to come back for more!

Portofino is a tiny and stunning coastal village in Italy to go to in the summer, with some of the most incredible food of the Liguria region (known for pesto!). It is also one of the closest beach towns to the country’s fashion capital, Milan, which is very apparent with the designer stores and beach clubs. You can engage in the bougie vibes here and shop till you drop or not at all and enjoy the beach all day, sit at a long Italian lunch all afternoon, take in the magical views on a boat trip or even from the cliffs on the walking paths. It's an unforgettable destination for a romantic getaway, with friends or even a family trip – not to mention, a smaller and calmer alternative to the Amalfi Coast.
