In February of 2024, I did a site inspection while visiting the stunning city of Portland, Oregon. One of my favorite stops was the newly opened Ritz-Carlton Portland; it checked all the boxes for what a new downtown property should have.

There is a welcoming lobby bar called Meadowrue, a gorgeous restaurant on the 20th floor overlooking the city called Bellpine, a state of the art spa, and a “must see to believe” pool and fitness center on the 19th floor. I have been referring my clients to this new and stunning property in Downtown PDX. It is certainly one of the best in the Pacific Northwest.

There’s just something about the Pacific Northwest – moody forests, adventurous hikes, gorgeous waterfalls, a rugged coast and a “vibe” that’s easy to identify but near-impossible to describe. Western Oregon is the perfect dichotomy between the vibrant urban scenes of Portland and Eugene, and the quiet nature retreat of its many state parks. During the week of Thanksgiving, my daughter and I drove the Oregon Coast. We flew in and out of Portland PDX and enjoyed staying at The Heathman Hotel on travel days.
