Guide to a Winter Vacation in Park City & Deer Valley

Curated by
Jennifer Schwartz
Park City is the ultimate destination if you are looking for a winter paradise! Skiers will find solace in Deer Valley, which is one of the only ski-only resorts in the country. With its limit on daily ticket sales and a top-notch ski school, Deer Valley knows how to cater to the luxury crowd. Lift passes are sold directly, or Ikon Pass holders have access to a set number of days at Deer Valley Resort. Park City Resort is the largest in the United States and boasts over 330 trails, six terrain parks and a half pipe. The ski school caters to skiers and boarders of all levels. Owned by Vail Resorts, Park City is accessible with the Epic Pass.

Winter Bliss in Park City & Deer Valley: Non-Skiers' Haven

Is your family's house divided during the winter season? I don’t mean due to college basketball, but rather because some family members want to spend winter vacation skiing while others don't favor it. This predicament has been a long-standing struggle for our family of four. Every winter vacation, we non-skiers would be apathetic about the trip, reluctantly hitting the slopes despite our lack of enthusiasm. However, this year, I decided to take charge and create my own personalized, fun-filled itinerary. To my surprise, not only did I have an amazing time, but my selected activities captured the interest of other family members. I successfully got at least one other person to take a break from skiing or snowboarding to join me on each excursion. Park City has long garnered an esteemed reputation as a premier ski destination. It also offers an abundance of indoor and other outdoor activities that cater to many interests.

We are big skiers and just bought a place in Park City but have never been in the summer. We were excited to see all the things Park City has to offer in the warm weather that we can't do in the winter time. Our kids had an absolute blast with endless activities and spending the 4th of July there with all the events going on makes it an extra special place to be for the 4th.

While many think of the Mighty Five National Parks when considering Utah, Salt Lake City is a unique city to explore if you’re looking for an urban break. With plenty of independently owned restaurants and boutiques, it’s easy to shop (and dine) small and support the local community. Its close proximity to the Wasatch Mountains make it perfect for mixing outdoor and city adventures. This Utah itinerary will help you experience the city like the locals do.

As a self proclaimed ski bum, Park City is by far my favorite ski destination. My husband and I just purchased a condo at the base of Park City Mountain. We have lots of family memories that we have already created in PC and are looking forward to many more to come. Love to share all the great places I've eaten and great skiing I've done because Park City is my happy place.

Mountains and More: Welcome to Park City

My husband has been skiing since he could walk, and his family's ski town of choice has always been Park City. I've been lucky enough to visit several times, and it's a cool town with a lot of character! There is plenty to do year-round in the great outdoors, but the city also has a fantastic food scene that may not be on everyone's radar. If you're more of a snow lodge bunny like me, then this guide is for you!

Sipping Cocktails and Watching the Snow Fall in Park City, Utah

Park City is an easy-to-love mountain town in the Wasatch Mountains, about a 45-minute drive from Salt Lake City. Originally a silver mining town, and then mostly rebuilt in the Victorian style. Park City’s main “old” town stuns year-round, whether you visit during a flowery early summer, a golden autumn or a snow-blanketed February weekend. And the location is perfect for a variety of purposes: my boyfriend and I went in October for a romantic weekend, but Park City works just as well for a joint bachelor / bachelorette party, a family ski trip or even a day trip to hike to the region’s many waterfalls and lakes. Regardless of the reason — or the season - Park City is definitely a place you and yours should check out soon!

Experience Park City, Utah, Like a Local

Park City, Utah, is a truly special town. It has small-town charm with big city amenities, like luxury hotels, world-renowned chefs, world-renowned training facilities, healthcare, doctors, the annual Sundance film festival, a movie studio and let’s not forget the Olympics! What’s not to love? And, coming from someone who has lived and raised a family here for the last 17 years (and counting) I can almost call myself a “local”. However, the original locals state that to achieve that label one must be living here for 25 years or more.
