If you think of the cobblestone streets and narrow alleys, Naples is not exactly the place you would pick for a family holiday — however, this bustling city is actually a great choice for families. With its warm climate, the glorious food, the endless cultural sightseeing and the possibility of a day trip to visit Ercolano, Pompei, the Amalfi Coast or the islands of Ischia and Capri, Naples is an excellent choice for a short spring break. While children are widely welcomed in the whole of Italy, they are truly cherished in the south.

Procida - A Perfect Day Trip from Naples

Curated by
Ashley Emala
Capri and Ischia are the islands off the coast of Naples that get ALL the attention, but Procida is absolutely worth a visit, especially if you yearn to get away from the throngs of international tourists during the summer months. Used as the setting for The Talented Mr. Ripley and the Italian movie Il Postino, this tiny island is charming and an easy day trip from Naples.

Though Capri is undeniably breathtaking and a must-visit, if you're planning a visit to Naples or the Amalfi Coast, consider adding a day trip to Procida for an 'off-the-beaten-path' experience. Nestled off the rocky coastline of Naples lies the hidden treasure of Procida, a small island that spans less than two square miles, and is known for its colorful pastel architecture, breathtaking vistas and warm, welcoming locals.

Napoli is a city unlike many others: torn apart and passed between empires for centuries, only to be regenerated as a thriving, powerful hub of the country. Its influences from past occupation and rule can be felt everywhere, from the Greeks to Normans, the French and the Spanish. Nestled between the bright blue aqua waters of the Mediterranean to its west and the slopes of Mount Vesuvius to its east. There are so many things to do in Naples, Italy but all one needs to do embrace La Dolce Vita to combat the frenetic energy this bustling port city exudes.

Napoli emerges as an exceptional gastronomic destination, showcasing its uniqueness through the bounties of fertile volcanic soil. This yields a diverse range of extraordinary fruits and vegetables, exemplified by the esteemed Sorrento lemons (Limone di Sorrento IGP), a highlight from Massa Lubrense. The region also boasts the delectable Piennolo tomatoes, renowned for their exquisite flavor and superior quality. Additionally, Napoli and surrounding takes pride in its varied selection of outstanding cheeses, notably the unmatched Mozzarella di Bufala di Agerola. With a rich culinary legacy and an abundance of premium local produce, Napoli becomes an unrivaled haven for avid food enthusiasts.

Live Like a Local in Naples, Ischia and Sorrento

Curated by
Michelle Tuzzolino
With more direct flights available to Naples, Sorrento is a much easier destination to get to. Sorrento is the birthplace of limoncello where you can enjoy amazing food and wine, panoramic sunset views and cliffs, hiking across the peninsula and travel experiences with locals that will welcome you into their home.
Since the secret is already out, don't miss the opportunity to also take a ferry to one of the most picturesque islands in the Bay of Naples, the volcanic island of Ischia. It tends to be much less touristy and you can soak in one of the natural thermal pools.
This region is such a beautify part of Italy and a 'day trip' is not enough time to live like a local. Immerse yourself in the culture and be ready to be welcomed like family.

Napoli! It’s a city that must be followed by an exclamation point for it’s a city that lives life at full tilt.
