Venice

Crystal is back! For more than three decades Crystal has been an award-winning cruise line known for its exceptional service. In 2022, the Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group acquired the Crystal brand and relaunched Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. It was my pleasure to sail on back-to-back cruises, for 14 nights, on Crystal Symphony in May/June of 2023. A&K kept many of the Crystal staff, so it felt like an old home week. Old guests hugged room attendants and wait staff that they had not seen since before the pandemic.

Venice is one of the most picturesque cities. It's filled with unique architecture, interesting history, beautiful art and delicious food. It's the perfect city to visit with your family, because kids will be just as fascinated as adults. Whether floating under the bridges of the canals in a gondola or walking the bridges by foot, there is so much to see and do in this small city. It is a perfect destination for children of all ages. Watching my three daughters embrace the culture was truly a wonderful experience.

Venice is Italy's dreamy island city and a destination like no other. It is arguably one of Italy's (and some would say Europe's) most picturesque cities. Prepare to be wowed by the gorgeous architecture, winding canals and unique bridges as you arrive via boat. One of the best things we did was wander around the city, getting off the beaten path and away from the tourists to discover our own hidden gems. I highly encourage you to do the same. Italian culture and customs are like no other, drawing individuals all around the world to this country where people seem to simply live better. And still, eating a tartufo at Tre Scalini in the Piazza Navona in Rome, partaking in the festivities surrounding the annual Il Palio horse race in Siena and walking up the steps of Scala Contarini del Bovolo in Venice are all unique experiences and not well-known tourist stops. All of these sites combined with local cuisine make for a unique excursion. Off-the-beaten-path sites such as the peephole at Piazza Mattei (a surprise awaits) in Rome and a boat ride to Torcello off the coast of Venice are locations that most tourists do not see.
