Hong Kong is where I spent 18 years of my formative years growing up and every time I revisit my hometown, I marvel at this slice of architectural heaven. Here are a few of my favorite spots that I always take visitors or suggest friends to see for themselves!

Hong Kong is one of the most picturesque places on the planet. There are jaw-dropping sights and Instagrammable opportunities everywhere you turn, from colorful street art and ancient shrines to that famous, glittering skyline. Below are just a few of my recs to keep your camera happy.

This glamorous harbor-front hotel is a wellness, culinary, and highly Instagrammable destination. Featuring mesmerizing views of Kowloon and Victoria Harbour, it has superb service, a luxurious spa, and Michelin-starred restaurants. Upstairs, the recently revamped guest rooms and suites have spa-like bathrooms, heavenly beds, and wide windows with jaw-dropping vistas of the shimmering waters and skyline. Plus, the hotel’s location is supremely convenient. It’s connected to the swanky International Finance Center mall and near the MTR, the ferry piers, and all the best restaurants, bars, and shops in Central.

Hong Kong is a bucket list destination, filled with culture, genuine people and off-the-charts cuisine. It can be a great spot to layover when traveling Asia or a standalone visit where you spend a week or more. You can island hop and experience mountaintop Buddhas and ancient fishing villages or shop to your heart's delight. There are beautiful beaches, hilltops laden with monkeys and expansive street markets. The food will expand your pallet and have you coming back for more! All of this is interconnected by amazing public transportation, which allows you to cast a wide web of exploration in a short time.

This was definitely not my first time traveling alone but I still count it as my first Solo Trip and I had a blast! I loved exploring the city, seeing the sites, and learning the history, as well as eating the food! Hong Kong was a lot more diverse than I was expecting and there was no need for a translator. I think this is the best place to go for a first-timer looking to maybe not step ALL the way out of their comfort zone, but just poke their head out.
