Atlanta is where I am based. I am a Georgia Tech alumni and I have lived here for over 15 years. People are always asking me "what are the best things to do?" "tell me the best restaurants" and "where should I stay?"
Atlanta is a great weekend getaway or staycation spot. Or maybe you have to be here for another reason - there are lots of reasons to linger a little longer. Find out more.

A Taste Journey in Savannah, Georgia

Curated by
Julie Middlebrook-Levin
We love to plan trips around food and culture and Savannah has it all. Nicknamed “Hostess City of the South” because this walkable city is full of sweet southern hospitality, cultural experiences and a next level food and beverage scene (“cups to go” are a thing here!) . The only month we might recommend staying away would be August when it is insanely hot. Favorite months to visit are March/April and September/October. We like experiencing Savannah without a car- the city is best experienced on your feet and there is always Uber/Lyft if your legs give out or for any further away destinations you may want to visit.
Here are a few our our favorite ways to savor Savannah.

Off-the-Beaten Path Savannah Guide

Martha Pearlstone
Savannah, Georgia has long been known as a beautiful, historic southern city (and the step-sister to Charleston.) Today, Savannah is much more than southern charm and history, it feels electric. The city is expanding rapidly with new chic hotels, fantastic restaurants and hip rooftop bars. But if culture and history are your thing then Savannah delivers— visit several small-but-well-curated art & history museums, historic churches and even the first Jewish synagogue in the United States. It is reputed that during Sherman's March to the Sea, the General believed Savannah too beautiful to destroy and in turn presented the city to President Lincoln as a Christmas gift!

Site Inspection: The St. Regis Hotel Atlanta

Juli Hall
The St. Regis' tag line is "The best address in Atlanta," and I have to admit after touring this hotel, they might be right! This is a true five-star hotel complete with everything you need — exceptional service and walking distance to shopping, dining, theater and more. Every space is classic, beautiful and inviting, with contemporary design and a sophisticated vibe. Throughout the hotel you will find original pieces of art from the owner's private collection, which is rotated twice a year. Fun fact: The owner of the hotel owns two of the three "Wall Street" bulls, including the one in NYC. Throughout the hotel, you will find small statues of the bull, particularly in the suites.

If you’re looking for a unique getaway from city life and the mountains are calling you, check out Helen, Georgia! This cute, touristy town designed to look like a little Bavarian village is set in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway with the family. There’s plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy, from tubing down the river that runs through town, to ziplining with stunning views of the surrounding mountain landscape, to going for a hike and ending at a waterfall. There’s great restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, gem mining and so much more in this charming, bustling alpine village that will have you feeling like you’ve been transported to Europe for a short time.

Simply Savannah

Whether you're here for a week or just a couple days, Savannah, Georgia, is a perfect little getaway. I just visited Savannah this past summer and found the city to be very cute. But, I would advise against going in the summer months as it is very humid (unless you don't mind!). The historic park squares are beautiful and wandering around the historic district will always be a special memory for me.
