Detroit is a revitalized metropolis with an amazing food, art and culture scene. It is home to the most Black-owned businesses in the United States. The diversity in Detroit is one of the reasons that makes this city so special. There are a plethora of eateries, bars and activities. You will never fret about running out of things to do in this urban landscape. Everyone that goes out of their way to spend time in Detroit is surprised how much they love it, but it's no surprise to the local Michiganders! If you are wanting an authentic city experience, take time to visit Detroit.

There is a reason that Time Magazine named Detroit one of the World's Greatest Places in 2022. It's not just the city that put the world on wheels and gave us the great groove of the Motown Sound. Detroit is a foodie's dream and a sports-lover's nirvana. While I'm partial because it's my birthplace and hometown, many will attest to its dynamic culture and history. It's a summer sandbox and a winter wonderland. World class museums and a lively art scene make it a haven for artists. As the birthplace of techno music and a thriving house music scene, there is no shortage of night venues to dance the night away. Its river and massive island park, Belle Isle, are amongst its gems and are second only to its welcoming "salt of the earth" people.

Detroit is one of the most underrated cities in the US. Outsiders will try to tell you otherwise, but people who have actually spent time there can testify to the city's incredible revival of food, arts and culture in the last decade. The historic architecture combined with modern developments and a burgeoning restaurant scene call back to the city's heritage as the "Paris of the West."

Detroit is a living storybook where Motown melodies still dance in the air. Explore the area’s history then witness the city's rebirth through vibrant street art and a diverse food scene. It's not just a city; it's a narrative waiting for you to dive in.

Detroit is special to me because it’s where I grew up, and I’ve seen firsthand how much the city has evolved over the years. I love witnessing its revival, from the restoration of historic buildings to the thriving small businesses and creative energy shaping its future. Exploring new restaurants and food spots is one of my favorite things to do — there’s always something exciting to try, from classic Coney dogs to innovative new eateries. Detroit has a grit and resilience that makes it unlike any other place, and I’m proud to call it home.

Detroit is near and dear to my heart, not only because I’m a huge Detroit Lions fan, but mainly because I was born and grew up there. It’s the backbone of my character when it comes to hard work, resilience, and loyalty. It’s a place that is incredibly historic for so many reasons and deserves to be celebrated and highlighted whenever possible.

Detroit’s magnetic pull is undeniable, especially as it’s a vibrant sports hub just a short drive away. The electric energy during Lion’s and Tiger’s seasons is infectious, perfectly balanced by the city’s intriguing off-season discoveries. With cherished family ties deeply rooted here, my experiences in Detroit are rich with both exhilarating public moments and intimate personal connections, making it a truly special place.

The city of Detroit has an energy that is hard to find anywhere else in the world. There is no doubt the city has a rich and difficult history. But Detroiters embrace their past and move forward making the city vibrant and rich in culture. Detroiters love their city and you will feel that everywhere you go.
