Cozumel

I stayed at this Melia brand resort in June of 2023, along with my husband, for our anniversary. We were there for five nights and really did not want the party atmosphere of Cancun. We’ve been to Cozumel several times before, but had always stayed in private apartments. Having stayed in her sister property, Paradisus Cancun (formerly Gran Melia Cancun) before, we decided to give all inclusive hotels in Cozumel a try, and we were not disappointed!

Our family of six loved spending a week in Cozumel so much so that we repeated the vacation four years later -- and we weren't disappointed. Did you know that Cozumel has some of the best snorkeling spots on Earth? Sadly, most people only visit Cozumel for a day, either from a cruise ship or via ferry from Playa del Carmen. Pack your snorkel gear and plan to stay for seven days on Cozumel. Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Cozumel is a popular destination on many Western Caribbean cruise itineraries, and rightfully so. Situated off the coast of mainland Mexico, this island is less crowded than her neighbors on the mainland, and has a more authentic vibe. Most of the island is undeveloped, but for those open to a little adventure, the possibilities are near endless. The beaches on the Eastern side of the island are mostly undeveloped. The western coast of the island, sheltered from the weather, hosts most of the settlements on the island, coral reefs, making Cozumel an incredible spot for snorkelers and scuba divers. There are also numerous Mayan archeological sites, as well as a few living history exhibitions to visit on the island.

Cozumel is a fantastic option for an international, but still close, long-weekend type of getaway. It's great for couples, families or multi-generational travelers as it's not too long of a flight and direct from some U.S. cities. Cozumel is known for having world-renowned diving, fabulous snorkeling, beautiful beaches and an array of sea creatures for the kids, such as sea turtles, dolphins and stingrays. Cozumel is a trip that could be taken year round, but for ideal weather and the lowest chance of rain, you may consider a March to May itinerary.

We are bringing in the new year with a Disney Family Cruise for a family of 25. Disney Cruise Line has to be one of the best cruises for children, always keeping the kids busy, and everyone is so friendly. Every moment spent was magical and unbelievable.

Cozumel is special to me because it offers an extraordinary blend of untouched beauty, rich history and serene escapes. The balance of adventure and tranquility is unmatched. Whether snorkeling in secluded reefs, walking along unspoiled beaches or immersing in local culture, Cozumel feels like a personal paradise.
