It’s that phase of summer when everyone you know is somewhere in Europe. Your barista’s in Ibiza, your dentist is posting from Mykonos, and every influencer you’ve never met is sipping something orange beneath a striped umbrella. So, in the spirit of full transparency—I’m heading to Europe, too. Lake Como and Sardinia, specifically. Yes, there will be spritzes. Yes, there will be umbrellas. Yes, you might want to temporarily mute me on Instagram.
And while a summer in Europe isn’t exactly groundbreaking, 2025 is shaping up with some fresh trends. London is having a surprisingly big family travel moment—bookings at The Other House South Kensington and Flemings Mayfair have doubled compared to this time last summer. In Rome, stylish-yet-sensible hotels like Chapter Roma and The Hoxton are proof you can live la dolce vita without emptying your wallet and throwing it in the Tiber. And then there’s Paris—always Paris—where bookings at the ultra-chic La Fantaisie and Four Seasons Hotel George V are up sixfold. Travelers aren’t just chasing baguettes, they want over the top beauty, indulgence, and maybe a little something to brag about on social.
If Europe is calling your name this summer, you’re not too late—we still have all of August. Say yes to the aperitivo.
Hot tip: If, like me, biz class isn't in your budget, take a look at La Compagnie. This French discounted business-class-only airline has extended their offerings beyond France, and I’m taking it to Milan as the starting point for my trip at a fraction of the price that a traditional airline would have cost me for a lie-flat seat.
Here’s where I’ll be staying:

Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como: This restored 19th-century villa near the quiet towns of Blevio and Torno has historic appeal but also touts contemporary Italian design that wouldn't look out of place in Milan. The lakeside infinity pool offers scenic views, while the restaurant dishes up high-end cuisine—don't miss the seared tuna.
Fora's Mandarin Oriental Fan Club Perks include a $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, a welcome amenity, and an upgrade whenever possible.

Passalacqua, Lake Como: Set in a tiny commune on the southern end of Lake Como, this historic villa-turned-hotel is about 20 minutes from Como Town. There are only 30 rooms, each individually designed to reflect the traditional luxury of the destination while feeling fresh and contemporary. Add the spa and lakeside pool and you have the perfect mix for living la dolce vita.
Fora's Perks include a $100 hotel credit, breakfast daily, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

7Pines Resort Sardinia: In a quiet cove near Baja Sardinia, this hideaway offers a streamlined, contemporary feel. The main side is great for families, with villa-style rooms, sea views, and easy beach access. The adults-only wing is private, but faces inward toward the pool.
Fora’s Hyatt Privé partner perks include a $100 hotel credit, welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel: Originally built in the 1960s and recently renovated, the resort has a polished, whitewashed charm that made Costa Smeralda famous. Thoughtful design, a slower pace, and that feeling of stepping into a classic summer holiday make this a standout stay.
Fora’s Belmond Bellini Club partner perks include a hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade, and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Here's what I’ll be doing:

A boat day with lunch at La Scogliera in Sardinia’s Maddalena islands
Sunset drinks at Phi Beach
