Six Senses Rome, which opened last year as the brand’s first urban hotel, is a veritable oasis in the heart of the city. Six Senses is renowned for its luxe wellness-oriented properties, often in remote destinations, as well as their commitment to sustainability and their strong sense of place. Regardless of a hotel’s location, Six Senses mirrors and celebrates its vibrant surroundings. Now that Rome is graced with Six Senses’ signature ethos, hotel guests are in for an especially immersive, serene and unique treat.

But a hotel goes beyond the rooms, amenities and location, of course. Relationships matter — and we’re immensely grateful for our relationship with Six Senses Rome. We recently sat down with the hotel’s general manager, Francesca Tozzi.

“One of the best aspects about working with Fora has been the tailor-made approach the agency has with Six Senses Rome,” she said. “That, combined with their strategic insights and support, has helped us emerge in an already well-established market.”

Six Senses Rome is one of Fora’s top three most popular Rome hotels based on dollars booked.

“We were also impressed by the high volume of bookings created in a relatively short time frame,” she said of Fora.

Francesca shared why hotel-agency partnerships are so important, what makes Six Senses Rome special plus a few insider secrets to maximize your Roman vacation. Read on to get her take.

A trove of treasures

Six Senses Rome is an excellent homebase for exploring the ancient city. And it’s perfect for a diverse range of clientele, Francesca said: couples, honeymooners, wellness enthusiasts, families. Plus, world-renowned landmarks like the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain are all within walking distance.

“Rome is a trove of treasures at one’s feet,” Francesca said.

But she urges guests to go beyond the tried-and-true favorites and also take time to explore the city’s hidden gems. Francesca shared one such hidden gem as an example: a 1,700-year-old baptismal bath. The bath, one of the oldest in Rome, was discovered in the early 20th century. Today, it’s only accessible via Six Senses Rome, and is visible beneath the glass floor of the hotel’s BIVIUM Restaurant-Café-Bar.

Six Senses Rome also actively plays a role in preserving and fostering the city’s heritage. As with all Six Senses properties, sustainability — both environmental and cultural — is top of mind. Francesca shared one of their socially oriented projects in this space: the renovation of the façade of the San Marcello Al Corso Church, just next door.

On the environmental side, the hotel participates in numerous initiatives to protect Italy’s wolf population. The animal plays an essential role in the country’s ecosystem, and is also the symbol of Rome. (Auerelia the she-wolf is the hotel’s adorable mascot — guests can even purchase a plush toy version of her, and all profits from such sales go toward their wolf conservation projects.)

One-of-a-kind wellness

Six Senses Rome’s wellness program is one-of-a-kind in the Roman luxury hospitality scene, Francesca said (and we agree). It’s worth noting that all of the Six Senses properties set the wellness bar exceptionally high. There are Roman baths, a hammam, sauna and steam rooms, a beauty area — even a biohacking room. The hotel regularly hosts world-renowned experts in fields such as osteopathy, yoga, physical fitness and Traditional Chinese Medicine, among others. And many of their treatments employ rigorously vetted, researched-backed technology (no fads here).

Traditional treatments — massages, facials — as well as in-depth, personalized wellness journeys centered on sleep, yoga, detox or fitness are all available. Opt for a sound bath or breathwork session, or perhaps a workshop at the Alchemy Bar, where the hotel’s resident Alchemist teaches you how to make bespoke natural remedies.

Wellness extends to the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. Locally sourced, nourishing products star at all the restaurants, from the aforementioned BIVIUM, a beautiful all-day space with an open kitchen, to NOTOS Rooftop, where craft cocktails and seasonal snacks are paired with panoramic city views.

Even the rooms exude a luxe tranquility, and our Fora Advisors agree. Pam Murphy was one of the first advisors to personally stay at the property, and she’s since booked it for a variety of her VIP clients.

“The rooms are zen and gorgeous and a fantastic contrast to the chaos of Rome outside,” Pam said.

Exceptional memories & shared values

Since the hotel’s opening, Francesca said, Fora has played an integral role in promoting the property and driving bookings. (Six Senses Rome is one of Fora’s top three most popular Rome hotels based on dollars booked.)

“This achievement highlights Fora’s tremendous effectiveness in supporting us and positioning our hotel within a very competitive market like Rome,” she said.

It’s a privilege to send guests to partner hotels whose values align with ours.

“With Fora we share the goal of leaving exceptional memories to our guests,” Francesca added. “This is only possible thanks to the effective and prompt communication, quick response, trusted partnership [and] personalized touch” Fora’s relationship with the hotel allows.

Apart from the hotel’s beauty, exceptional service and five-star amenities — Six Senses Rome deserves a spot on any bucket list — the property’s overall values are greatly admirable. Their positive culture is reflected in the passion of their employees, their kindness, their keen attention to detail and their clear love for what they do.

Francesca said she was inspired to work for the hotel, and its parent company IHG, precisely because of their shared values of respect, inclusivity and collaboration, as well as their dynamic, forward-thinking environment and dedication to setting their employees up for professional success.

“The aspect that amazes me the most is the genuine care for our team and community,” she added. “We feel like part of a family.”
