I love my pets; my fur babies are such an intrinsic part of our lives that, chances are, you fall asleep with a snuggle bug tucked by your feet, and wake up with them stealing your pillow. For many, the idea of traveling without their pets is too gut-wrenching to bare. Thankfully, there are a slew of pet-friendly hotels that welcome dogs, cats and even feathery friends.

1 Hotel West Hollywood

With leafy parks, ample hiking routes, world-class groomers and a chill outdoor culture, Los Angeles is a pet-owner's dream. Even dreamier? 1 Hotel West Hollywood, a chic, sustainable, wellness-oriented and pet-friendly oasis in one of LA's hottest neighborhoods. Take a rooftop yoga class, nurse a cocktail amongst in-the-know locals, get a face workout at the onsite FaceGym (trust me on this one) or snuggle up with your pup in one of the hotel's sleek guest rooms as you take in the city skyline. (Floor-to-ceiling windows certainly help.) The concierge will give you allll the recs on city's best groomers, dog salons and dog parks. But you'll likely not want to leave the property.

Fora Perks:

  • $100 food / beverage credit.

  • Breakfast daily.

  • Upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Not only is New York’s Soho Grand a dog-friendly hotel, but it boasts a private dog park for hotel guests of both The Soho Grand and its equally dog-friendly sister hotel, The Roxy. Designed by renowned landscape architect, Rebecca Cole, this dog park is more like a serene garden, with thoughtful elements like a fire hydrant water station for furry friends. As if the dog park isn’t enough of a draw for pet owners, The Soho Grand’s pet policy allows you to check-in without paying additional pet fees, and to have your room set up with organic dog treats, pet beds water bowls and waste bags — talk about a pampered pooch! For an extra special evening with your fur baby, head to the Roxy Bar, one of the few indoor places in the city where you can enjoy a dirty martini and small bites alongside your best friend.

Whether you’re on a road trip or opting for a rejuvenating getaway with your pooch, Charleston is a South Carolina gem with charming streets and delectable cuisine. If you’re wondering where to check in with fido, look no further than The Charleston Place. Pets are welcome, and you’ll find no weight limit or size restrictions (Great Dane owners, rejoice!). The hotel provides perks like pet-sitting, dog treats and water bowls, plus special goodies like a doggie bandana. Just note that The Charleston Place does not allow pets to be left unattended in the room, so before you pull on those strappy sandals and head out for a night of sazeracs, make sure fido can come with you.

The Liberty Hotel

Cat owners, I hear you and I see you. I know it seems like dogs get all the perks, but rest assured there are hotels where feline friends are welcome, and this is one of them. The Liberty Hotel in Boston is a 4-star pet-friendly hotel that is part of the Marriott group. The Liberty allows two pets (no size or weight restriction) for an additional fee of $100 per stay. The hotel’s 6th and 12th floors are the designated pet-friendly areas where guests will check-in to rooms with all the expected amenities for pets, including water bowls, pet beds and treats. For cat owners wondering how to handle an on-the-go litter box situation, you can find collapsible litter boxes sold on Chewy, which are purrr-fect (I couldn’t resist) for traveling.

Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa

Nestled in the Coachella Valley of Palm Springs, the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa is a sprawling desert resort appearing like an oasis surrounded by sand. This dog-friendly Marriott hotel offers guests waterslides, pools, a fitness center, spa and on-site dining. If you’re looking for a getaway with your pup, the Westin Rancho Mirage is a great option for those with dogs under 50 pounds. There is an additional fee of $50 per stay, and pets cannot be left unattended in their rooms, but worry not — the resort has plenty of outdoor dining options for you and fido to enjoy a meal side-by-side. For those traveling with pets and large groups, it’s worth noting that the private villa rentals are not dog-friendly.

Kimpton Hotel Palomar Los Angeles Beverly Hills

The Kimpton Hotel Palomar in Beverly Hills is the place to stay if you want to channel your inner Paris Hilton, traveling around Los Angeles with her Pomeranian puppy in her tote bag. Considered one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Los Angeles, both dogs and cats are welcome at this Kimpton hotel for no additional pet fee. There are no limitations here on size, weight, number of pets, or even species (as apparently this pet-friendly hotel chain welcomes birds and reptiles too).

Kimpton Hotel Palomar San Diego

Did I mention that Kimpton Hotels is a pet-friendly hotel chain? This San Diego location is not only a paw-tastic boutique hotel, but it’s located in the uber-cool Gaslamp neighborhood where you’ll find a 16-block radius of fantastic dining, shopping, nightlife, theaters and art galleries. For pet owners, this Kimpton hotel shares a similar pet policy with its Los Angeles sister — there are no additional pet fees and no restrictions on weight and size — with the added bonus of being next door to the PetCo Park and within dog-walking distance of many pet-friendly establishments.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC

So, you’re looking for a cultural stay in the nation’s capital where fido is welcome. Lucky for you, there’s a Kimpton hotel centrally located in the popular Penn Quarter. Like the other Kimpton properties on this list, there are no pet fees or restrictions for your furry (or feathery or scaly) friend, but you will be asked to fill out a pet registration form and keep your pet caged during house cleaning visits. Unlike some other Kimpton properties, this one does apply fees for any messes or damages left behind. For those without pets, adorably, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC offers a goldfish bowl to keep you company. How cute is that?

Sagamore Pendry Baltimore

With the perfect blend of history and culture, Baltimore’s Sagamore Pendry is located at what the locals would call “Rec Pier.” This dog and cat-friendly hotel offers a wide variety of entertainment, wellness and dining options – from swimming with a view over the Inner Harbor to drinking carefully crafted whiskey, bourbon and rye from the Sagamore Farm. Sagamore Pendry Baltimore allows two pets (any size) for an additional charge of $150 per stay, however, pets are not allowed to stay in the rooms unattended – so, don’t forget to pack some pet-friendly activities into your itinerary! If you need a little break from your day of adventures and your furry friend wants to make new friends, the dog park is also only one block away.

Fora Perks:

  • $100 food / beverage credit.

  • Breakfast daily.

  • Upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.

Troutbeck, NY

Picture a storybook woodland estate, where the likes of Henry David Thoreau once walked: meadows accented with gazebos and Adirondack chairs; babbling brooks connected by crimson-colored footbridges. Still with us? Now, imagine it dotted with stately stone cottages, each appointed with leather armchairs, roaring fires and the perfect, cozy-yet-chic aesthetic that can only be described as hygge. Add a destination spa and farm-to-table gastronomy, and there you have it. Troutbeck, an intimate destination resort located in Amenia, NY. Fido are welcome to join guests here (several rooms are designated pet-friendly), though it's worth noting that pets are not allowed in common areas.

  • Breakfast daily.

  • Upgrade & extended check-in/out whenever possible.
