Day 1: Land in Reykjavik
After connecting with your group after timed red eye arrivals, your private transfer will whisk you away to your hotel in downtown Reykjavik for a guaranteed early check in and breakfast.
To fight the jet lag, grab a flat white or cappuccino at Reykjavik Roasters or Kaktus Espressobar and set off for some sightseeing and shopping in the quirky city of Reykjavik. Be sure to leave some room in your suitcase for the beautiful wool items, artwork and beauty products you’ll pick up along your stay.
For a late lunch, head to Raðagerði Veitingahús, a charming and peaceful new restaurant situated on a bay just outside of downtown, overlooking the Grotta Lighthouse and a nature preserve. After feasting on pizzas, salads, cocktails and desserts, take a little walk along the waterfront to admire the views and then head back to the hotel for a quick afternoon nap to re-set for your evening adventure: the 7-step spa ritual at Sky Lagoon geothermal baths.
Sipping champagne and floating through the warm water overlooking the bay is the most spectacular way to spend your first evening in Iceland. After time in the saunas and a nice salt scrub, you’ll be ready to change into your pjs and crawl into bed!
Day 2: Adventure through the South Coast
Head out bright and early for a private or small group excursion with a luxury tour company to discover the highlights of Iceland’s South Coast. Having a local guide driving you will allow your group to enjoy the day stress free; they can also adjust your itinerary based on weather and crowds to optimize your time and experience the best the area has to offer.
Take the most amazing group shots in front of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, (hopefully!) spot puffins on Reynisfjara black sand beach and marvel over Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon aka “Justin Bieber canyon” before checking into a local guest house for dinner and cocktails overlooking the majestic landscape!
Day 3: Explore the glaciers
After a restful night sleep, strap on your crampons for an unforgettable experience hiking a part of a glacier in Vatnajökull National Park. After a delicious lunch and time to admire your photos (can you believe you just did that?!) swing by Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach to awe further at the glacial beauty of the area.
On your way back to Reykjavik, explore the town of Vik and stop off at the famed Skool Beans for some micro roasted coffee and hot chocolate served up in a school bus!
After a long two days of touring, feast on a gourmet Nordic dinner at TIDES in The Reykjavik Edition Hotel overlooking the water.
Day 4: Golden Circle
After a nice breakfast at your hotel, suit up and head to The Secret Lagoon, one of Iceland’s oldest geothermal hot pools! After a nice morning soak, your private guide will take your group for a delicious and memorable lunch amongst tomato plants in Friðheimar tomato greenhouse.
Spend your afternoon touring the Golden Circle highlights: the massive Gullfoss Falls (don’t forget your selfie stick!), the geothermal Geysir and Thingvellir National Park where you can witness where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are pulling apart.
Head back to Reykjavik for cocktails at Tides, followed by a celebratory last evening meal at The Fish Company. The langoustine soup, sushi platters with local fish and fish of the day dishes gave a real gourmet taste of Icelandic cuisine. Summer in Iceland means the sun is out late, giving your group plenty of time to revel in the local night life if that’s your thing!
Day 5: Spa and depart
After packing up your things and saying goodbye to your new favorite city with a quick “urban hike” before your flight, your private transfer will pick you up and bring you to the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing spa experience with Premium entry before your flights home. Enjoy a sparkling wine with your soak and don’t miss the face mask experience, all made with minerals from the lagoon.
Afterwards, dine on light local fare at the Lava Restaurant, in your robes with a glass of champagne in hand! After that incredible experience, head to the airport relaxed and re-energized on your shared experiences and quality time together.
If you’re considering a similar girls trip, I’d love to help you plan a trip you’ll remember and cherish for a lifetime!
