Things to do in Asheville

Apple picking at Sky Top Orchard

Asheville, much like Stars Hollow, is full of fall festivals and craft fairs that coincide with peak autumn travel—Art in the Park is a personal favorite.

Sky Top Orchard is perfect for apple picking and seasonal treats. Though slightly outside Asheville, the scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway is worth it. Sample apple cider doughnuts, pick apples, and enjoy a ride on the Bee Train.

Of course, no Asheville visit is complete without The Biltmore House. Tour “America’s Largest Home,” enjoy ice cream at the Biltmore Dairy, wander the expansive gardens, and book a wine tasting at the winery in Biltmore Village.

  • The Rise Coffee Bar at the Restoration Hotel: Ideal for a quick, on-the-go pick-me-up.

  • Summit at the Grove Arcade: Local coffee roasted fresh, with dog-friendly outdoor seating.

Where to eat:

  • Early Girl Eatery: Your Luke’s–style pancakes are waiting here, but plan to arrive early to beat the crowds.

  • Chesnut: Perfect for a romantic date night with shareable plates. Don’t miss the southern favorites like fried green tomatoes or cheesy tots.

  • Curate: For world-class Spanish tapas and a curated wine list, this is a culinary must.
