Things to do in Oahu

The Hanu Lani sailboat, with locally decorated sails, on the water at sunset.

Book a Cabana

Even if you are not staying in a Hotel with a poolside cabana, most resorts let non-guests book cabanas. This is a great way to have a space to relax with your friends while having a luxury experience. Most pools have weekend DJS which will bring the vibes all day long.

Go Hiking

If you are looking for a great workout and a even better view, Koko Head is a must-do for sunset. If you want a less intense hike with a similar view, the Hanauma Bay Hike has similar views but is much less intense.

Experience Waikiki Nightlife

Waikiki Nightlife is different from going out in most large American cities. You won't find dress codes and tons of promoters, but most bars will have a small cover charge. The best place for music with an amazing view is Sky Waikiki. It is a restaurant during the day and a club at night. If you are able to get a table for sunset, I would suggest spending the whole night there. Right down the street is Buho Cantina, with a outdoor dance floor and great margaritas, it's easy to have a great time there.

Go on a Sunset Catamaran Tour

The best thing about Oahu boat tours is most tickets can be purchased on the day of, and you are sure to have a good time. There's many different kinds of tours but the most popular are the sunset boat tours and Friday night firework tours (I would book a firework tour ahead of time as tickets sell out). Most boats offer an open bar, and have the most amazing views of Waikiki

Visit the North Shore

You can't visit Oahu without visiting the Iconic North Shore. Haleiwa town has great coffee shops and restaurants that you must hit before or after the beach. Waimea Bay, although often busy is a must-see. It offers crystal clear waters, and if you're feeling adventurous you can even jump off the iconic Waimea Bay rock. If you visit during the winter you may have the opportunity to see some of the largest waves in Hawaii, although you may not be able to swim, you will want to watch the waves and surfers all day. Just down the road is the famous pipeline. Walking up and down the beach you will see all the famous surf houses and even see some of the world's best surfers at work.

Honolulu Restaurants

Koko Head Café: One of the best brunches in Honolulu. It is a mix of local and Asian-inspired brunch dishes that will make you want to come back each morning.

Kona Coffee Purveyors: If you aren't looking for a full breakfast, this is the best spot for pastries and a coffee. There is often a long line so I would suggest getting there early, but its worth the wait.

Hau Tree: This is one of the best "on the beach" restaurants in Waikiki. Stunning views and great offerings. It is definitely an Instagramable dinner.

Deck: Another restaurant in Waikiki with a stunning view. It has a great happy hour, and even a brunch menu!

North Shore Restaurants

Banzai Sushi Bar: One of the best sushi restaurants on Oahu. A higher end restaurant open in the evenings, and worth checking out. The sushi selection is amazing, and the drinks are delicious.

Farm to Barn: A local restaurant with healthy offerings, and a great atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to stop before hitting the beach.

Haleiwa Bowls: A popular acai bowl shop that is worth the hype.

Jorge's Mexican: Good Mexican food is hard to find on Oahu, but Jorge's is one of the good spots. There's a great happy hour, and even better margaritas.
