Things to do in Bali
UBUD
A cultural hub in Bali, Ubud offers a perfect blend of art, nature, and tradition. Kids will love exploring the Monkey Forest, where they can interact with playful monkeys. If parents are into yoga, The Yoga Barn is an amazing place to practice yoga, to book beauty/relaxation/holistic treatments, healthy food and if you dare, try the ecstatic dance!
SIDEMEN
This serene village boasts stunning rice terraces and traditional Balinese lifestyle. Take your kids on a gentle trek through the terraced fields, where they can learn about the farming practices and enjoy the scenic beauty. You can also join a Balinese farm-to-table cooking class.
ULUWATU
Known for its breathtaking cliffs and mesmerizing sunsets, Uluwatu is a great spot for family fun. Catch the Kecak dance performance at Uluwatu Temple, an entertaining cultural show for kids and adults alike, and enjoy the amazing beaches. I consider them the best of the island! (Be aware of tides. Uluwatu is known for its surf, but there are quiet beaches as well).
Mount Batur
For an unforgettable adventure, consider a sunrise hike up Mount Batur. While it's a challenging climb, kids will feel accomplished reaching the summit and witnessing the sunrise over the volcanic landscape. There are also springs that are very fun natural pools and this area is also known for it's coffee plantations. Do you dare to try the Kopi Luwak?
LOVINA
This charming coastal town offers a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for family beach time. Take your kids on a dolphin-watching tour and they'll be thrilled to spot these playful creatures in the open sea.
MUNDUK
Surrounded by lush forests and waterfalls, Munduk is a nature lover's paradise. Hike to Munduk Waterfall, a family-friendly trek that leads to a refreshing dip in the cool waters.
Bali elephant safari
A must-visit for families, this park allows kids to get up close to elephants. They will be able to touch them, bathe them, ride them and swim with them. You can book hotels were elephants come pick you up at your room to take you to dinner. Your kids will never forget their elephant taxi!
Bali treetop adventure park
Amazing option for older kids. Located in Bedugul, this park offers an adrenaline-pumping experience with ziplining, challenging rope courses and rafting amid the beautiful forest.
KUTA
This busy place is great for shopping, here you can find typical Balinese souvenirs, beautiful home decor or occidental items as well. Another option here is to book surf lessons for kids and adults.
Day Trip
GILI TRAWANGAN
More than a day trip, it would be a 2-3 day trip. This one is the largest of the three Gili Islands, is a captivating destination for families with kids. Its tranquil ambiance and car-free environment make it an ideal spot for a relaxing getaway. Kids will delight in the island's pristine beaches, where they can build sandcastles and splash in the gentle waves. Snorkeling in the shallow waters reveals a mesmerizing underwater world, allowing kids to encounter colorful fish and playful sea turtles. Families can rent bicycles to explore the island's charming pathways, or hop on a traditional horse-drawn carriage known as a "cidomo." As the sun sets, Gili Trawangan comes alive with beachside bonfires and family-friendly events. Sharing laughter and creating lasting memories amid the island's natural beauty make Gili Trawangan a truly enchanting destination for families seeking a tropical paradise with their kids. I would recommend not going during weekends with kids during high season. It gets crowded. Hotels near the mosque, can be very loud at night.
