Curator’s statement

Jackson Hole, Wyoming has it all. A little bit of the Wild West mixed with luxurious hotels, beautiful mountains and amazing food that will make you drool. I have been going to Jackson since I was a kid and I always find something new to do. No matter what time of year you go, Jackson Hole has a little bit of everything — regardless if you are an experienced hiker, seasonal skier or simply want to nestle by a fireplace and watch the sunset on the Grand Teton Mountain range.

Things to Do in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Scenic River or Whitewater Rafting: This is a great option for families to get together and explore the Snake River. For families with smaller children or people that want a calming excursion, the scenic cruise is breathtaking. However, if you are more of a thrill seeker, whitewater rafting is a great experience.

Elk Refuge Sleigh Ride: If you are visiting Jackson in the winter, experience this opportunity by hopping on a sleigh ride and getting up close with the elks that migrate to this refuge every winter.

Horseback Riding: This opportunity allows you to see trails that you cannot see by hiking and you get to absorb all that the mountains have to offer.

Chuckwagon Dinner: I recommend this dinner experience if you want to have a wild west cookout. Family run business that shows a glimpse of Jackson Hole hospitality. Great option if you have children.

Breakfast on Elk Island: During the summers, there is the option to take a lake cruise on Jackson Lake to Elk Island, which sits in the middle of the lake. Experience a breakfast cookout while looking out on the Grand Tetons.

Places to eat & drink in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

A white plate of steak, herbs and vegetables.

Local Restaurant and Bar: If you want a fine dining experience and fantastic ambience, this is the place to eat. Located in town right near the famous antler arch and historic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Dishes range from a Buffalo Wellington to a Tomahawk Ribeye.

Nora’s Fish Creek Inn: This is an off-the-beaten-path lunch and breakfast spot where you will find mostly locals. They are well known for their Sourdough Banana Bread French Toast and was even featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Palate Restaurant: This is my favorite lunch spot mostly because the restaurant overlooks the National Elk Refuge and it is connected to the National Wildlife Art Museum. It has great food, beautiful views and exceptional art pieces to view.

Persephone Bakery: One of the most well known bakeries in the town of Jackson. I recommend grabbing a sandwich to go and finding a bench in the Grand Teton National Park to soak in all the views with a tasty picnic.

Gloriettas Trattoria: The best Italian that you can find in the area. My favorite dishes are the Cavatelli Alla Glorietta or the Truffle Risotto.

Day Trips from Yellowstone

There are day trips available to Yellowstone National Park if you want to see the famous national park and Old Faithful Geyser.
