Huge buildings in the Brickell
Curator’s statement

Miami is a magical city immersed in nature and culture. Brickell is special because it is at the heart of Miami and the nicest part of downtown. The airport and little Havana are to the west, Wynwood and the Design District to the North, Coral Gables and Coconut Grove to the south and Miami Beach to the East! Drive a few hours south and you are in the Keys! I used to live in a bright pink apartment building on the outskirts of Brickell and it holds a special place in my heart!

Things to do in Brickell, Miami

A distant view of huge buildings on seashore in the city

Walk along the Bay! Start at the Miami Circle (A National Historic Landmark and Sacred site for indigenous people) behind the W Hotel and walk the path down the Bay!

You can walk over the bridge to Brickell Key Island and take a lovely walk around the Island, watch the boats go by or catch the sunrise.

Simpson Park on S Miami Ave, the entrance is on SW 17th Rd you can walk or take the metromover to the last stop in Brickell and than walk a few blocks. In the middle of the city is a magical old growth forest and nature preserve. This is what Brickell looked like over 100 years ago, when it was still nature! It is open from 8am - 3pm but DO NOT GO at 8 am; I have made this mistake. If you are the first person in the park the path is going to be COVERED with giant spider webs (and giant spiders); but definetly check it out later in the day because it is really beautiful!

Take a yoga class at Bayfront Park!

Hop onto the metromover - a free monorail taking you from Brickell through Downtown. You can watch the city go by beneath you and ride around for fun!

Spend the day at the East pool. The perfect relaxing day! I have spent so much time lounging around those pools There are four of them and you can float under the sun surrounded by beautiful architecture! There are 2 swimming pools, one in the sun and one in the shade with big waterfall back massage jets! They also have a hot tub and cold plunge pool!

Explore the Brickell City Centre! The most beautiful, sustainable and luxurious indoor/outdoor mall I have ever seen! There are plenty of places to eat, shops and even a luxury movie theater!

Take a sunday morning yoga class on the rooftop at SLS Brickell Hotel!

Rent a boat to drive you down the river and around the bay. Don't forget the jetskis!

Day Trips

The options are ENDLESS!

Rent a car and drive down to the Florida Keys.

Take an Uber to South Beach 20-45 minutes away depending on traffic. Pro Tip: if there is an event going on downtown causing alot of traffic, take the metro mover to the Museum Park Metromover station and grab an uber from there.

Head west into Little Havanna for some authentic Cuban culture.

North of Brickell is the best nightlife in the world! Spend a night at E11even or Club Space!

Wynwood is a beautiful neighborhood covered in art-every single inch-down to the sidewalks! During the day you can walk around and look at art and have a lovely meal in one of the many trendy restaurants. At night you can go dancing bar crawl style — except it's night club after nightclub. Lots of reggaeton!

Places to eat & drink in Brickell, Miami

People having food on the Cafe bar

Coyo Taco: My all time favorite taco spot! You can watch them make fresh tortillas while you wait for your order or grab a margarita at the bar.

American Social: A fun spot to go for drinks and dinner, right on the river you can enjoy the colorful lights from the trains in the sky and the boats going by.

Sugar: East Hotel's rooftop bar & resturant, perect after a day spent by the pool!

Brickell Food Trucks: Right on the River Walk Trail, food trucks park along the bay and you can sit outside on picnic tables and enjoy the view!

La Sandwicheria: Grab a delicious sandwich (you can even order a croissant as bread!) to go and sit along the river or hop on the metro mover & have a picnic at bayfront park!

Blackbird Ordinary: Super fun place to go dance all night with lovely cocktails. Tuesday is ladies night. Get there early to beat the line!

Ojo De Agua: A healthy Mexican restaurant that I first heard of in Mexico City. This is their Miami location and it transports you to CDMX!

Batch Gastropub: I used to go running with a group and we would stop here after for beers every week! They have really yummy food and it is a very relaxed, athletic vibe. The perfect place to watch a sporting event or hangout with fit minded people!
