Day 2: Cairo & Giza

Sphinx and Pyramids Giza luxury egypt tour.

  • Visit the awe-inspiring Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and Pyramids of Sakkara.

  • For the adventurous, venture inside the Great Pyramid.

  • Enjoy lunch with an amazing view of the pyramids.

Today, you’ll visit the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid of Giza!

Enjoy a wonderful breakfast at your hotel before meeting your personal Egyptologist. Your Egyptologist will be with you throughout your trip, giving you incredible, private tours of Egypt’s wonders.

Journey back in time with a visit to the Pyramids of Sakkara, which pre-date the Pyramids of Giza. Here, you’ll view the extraordinary Step Pyramid of Djoser, which is over 4,600 years old.

After the surreal experience of seeing a pyramid in person, enjoy lunch with an amazing view of the Pyramids of Giza. (One of my favorite experiences in Egypt!)

Then, with your Egyptologist and tour coordinator, you’ll visit and learn about the Pyramids of Giza and nearby Sphinx. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even venture inside the Great Pyramid.

After an unforgettable day, enjoy a well-deserved rest at your Cairo hotel.

Day 3: Cairo

Muhammad Ali mosque – a large domed building with palm trees surrounding

  • Gaze at King Tut’s gold mask.

  • Enjoy friendly bargaining at the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.

  • Hear stories about your tour coordinator’s day-to-day life in Egypt during lunch.

  • See a panoramic view of Cairo from the impressive Muhammad Ali Mosque

Today, your driver, tour coordinator and Egyptologist will take you on an adventure to explore Egypt’s magnificent capital, Cairo.

After a great breakfast, head to the Egyptian Museum. Here, see the famous gold mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Plus, hear fascinating stories from your Egyptologist about the museum’s artifacts.

Next, head to the massive Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, where you’ll find artisans producing beautiful crafts and souvenirs. With the help of your tour coordinator, enjoy some friendly bargaining with the artisans.

For lunch, you’re in for a treat! Your tour coordinator will join you at a wonderful local restaurant and will entertain you with tales of day-to-day life in Egypt.

After lunch, visit the Cairo Citadel (Egypt’s seat of government for nearly 700 years), as well as the impressive Muhammad Ali Mosque. Just outside the Muhammad Ali Mosque, you’ll find a stunning, panoramic view of Cairo.

End the day with a restful night’s sleep at your Cairo hotel.

Day 4: Abu Simbel & Aswan

Abu Simbel site of two temples built by the Egyptian king Ramses II.

  • View the iconic and instantly recognizable Ramesses II statues at Abu Simbel.

  • Today, you’ll continue your luxury Egypt tour with a trip to Abu Simbel!

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel before your flight to Abu Simbel. Your tour coordinator and Egyptologist will be along for the journey, delivering exceptional service every step of the way!

You’ll continue to receive VIP treatment as you’re whisked through security and transferred between the airports and your destination.

Once at Abu Simbel, your Egyptologist will show you the incredible Abu Simbel Temples, with their instantly recognizable Ramesses II statues.

After seeing the amazing Abu Simbel temples, you’ll fly to Aswan, a picturesque city on the Nile River.

At the end of a great day, rest comfortably at your Aswan hotel.

Day 5: Aswan

The Nile River at sunset with palm trees on the banks.

  • Check-in to your luxurious Nile River boat.

  • Visit the stunning island Temple of Philae.

  • Sail in a gorgeous felucca boat on the Nile River (another favorite of mine!)

Today is the day you start your Nile River cruise!

After breakfast at your Aswan hotel, you’ll be transferred to your Nile River boat, which will be your home for the next few nights. You’ll be amazed by the boat’s comfortable rooms and incredible food.

And the day’s excitement has just begun! After lunch on the boat, join your Egyptologist and tour coordinator to see the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae.

Because the obelisk was abandoned due to cracks, its unfinished nature allows your Egyptologist to show you fascinating insights about ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques.

Next, travel by a small boat to the stunning island Temple of Philae. To save the complex from Nile River dam flooding, the entire complex was dismantled into about 40,000 pieces and moved from its original island to its current island location in the 1970s.

You’ll then visit the Aswan High Dam, which was constructed in the 1960s in an effort to protect against flooding and droughts.

To wrap up an amazing day, you’ll enjoy another favorite of mine— a peaceful sail in a gorgeous felucca boat along the Nile River.

Tonight, savor dinner on board the boat before getting a wonderful night’s sleep.

Day 6: Kom Ombo & Edfu

The Temple of Hatshepsut is a mortuary temple in Egypt.

  • Explore the unique “double” temple at Kom Ombo, dedicated to two deities.

  • Visit the most well-preserved temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus.

  • Watch an amazing sunset over the Nile River from your boat’s upper deck.

Today, after a lovely breakfast on-board, journey with your Egyptologist and tour coordinator to Kom Ombo Temple.

Your Egyptologist will take you through this incredible temple. It is unique because it is dedicated to two different deities, the crocodile-headed god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder.

After lunch and a short sail on the boat, hop off with your Egyptologist and tour coordinator for a visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. This temple is the most well-preserved ancient temple in all of Egypt.

See detailed hieroglyphics carved into the stone walls. Pose with the enormous statue of the falcon-headed Horus. And wander through the ancient stone chambers, in awe of the detailed designs.

Back on the boat, relax on the upper deck as you watch the sun set slowly over the Nile River. It’s truly a surreal experience.

After a great day exploring, enjoy a delicious dinner on board.

Day 7: Luxor

A view of Luxor against the sky.

  • Explore King Tut’s Tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

  • See an ancient masterpiece, the temple of female pharaoh Hatshepsut.

  • See spectacular Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, favorites of many visitors.

Today, you’ll visit Luxor, a highlight of this luxury Egypt tour for many visitors!

After an incredible breakfast on the boat, start your action-packed day to explore Luxor’s East and West Banks.

Your Egyptologist and tour coordinator will first take you to the West Bank to explore the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut.

The Valley of the Kings served as the burial location for pharaohs for over 500 years. Here, you’ll get the chance to see the tomb and mummy of Tutankhamun.

Then journey to the temple of female pharaoh Hatshepsut. The temple has three massive terraces that back into towering cliffs. It is considered a masterpiece of ancient architecture.

You’ll then enjoy lunch on board the boat.

After lunch, your Egyptologist and tour coordinator will take you to shore to explore the Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple on Luxor’s East Bank.

See towering, intricately carved columns at Karnak Temple. Follow the Avenue of the Sphinxes, lined with thousands of statues. And gaze in awe at the Ramesses II statues at Luxor Temple.

After an incredible day, enjoy dinner and entertainment back on your Nile River boat.

Optional Add-On 1: Hurghada

  • Relax pool-side at your luxurious hotel.

  • Enjoy incredible diving in the Red Sea.

  • Taste culinary delights at Hurghada’s amazing restaurants.

Want to spend some relaxing time by the water? Egypt can deliver that, too! Extend your luxury Egypt tour with an optional 3-night extension to Hurghada, which borders the picturesque Red Sea.

For this portion of the trip, you’ll go to the scenic resort area of Hurghada. You’ll spend three amazing nights there at your leisure. Here are some examples of amazing activities you can enjoy during your stay:

Diving in the Red Sea: This is my personal favorite activity in Hurghada. The Red Sea has beautiful coral, colorful fish, and interesting seascapes. There are many dive shops in Hurghada that offer beginning to advanced diving experiences.

Pool-side relaxation: Your luxurious Hurghada hotel has a lovely pool and plenty of lounge areas for you to enjoy some relaxation.

Culinary enjoyment: You’ll want to take advantage of the many delicious restaurants located throughout Hurghada.

After your trip to Hurghada, you’ll fly to Cairo. There, you’ll have one last Meet & Assist to take you from the domestic to international terminal, where your tour coordinator will bid you a temporary farewell until your return to beautiful Egypt.

Optional Add-On 2: Alexandria

A stone temple in the desert with palm trees on a clear day

  • Enjoy lunch along the stunning shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

  • See ancient catacombs, cut into three levels of solid stone.

  • Explore incredible Roman ruins from when Egypt was part of the Roman Empire.

  • Do you want to see a spectacular spot missed by most visitors? Then take advantage of an optional 2-night extension to historic Alexandria! This gem on the Mediterranean Sea was founded by Alexander the Great over two millennia ago.

For your trip to Alexandria, you’ll depart from Cairo for the 2.5 hour drive to Alexandria with your private driver, tour coordinator, and Egyptologist.

During your first day in Alexandria, you’ll see these amazing spots:

Ancient Catacombs: This three-level, underground burial chamber was cut into solid stone! Here, you’ll see a fascinating combination of Egyptian, Roman, and Greek design.

Roman Theatre: Egypt was a part of the Roman Empire for nearly 700 years. See a beautiful display of Roman architecture at this theatre, constructed in the 4th century.

Pompey’s Pillar: Gaze in awe at this Roman triumphal column, which was set-up in the late 3rd century to celebrate the Roman emperor Diocletian.

Lunch with a view: Enjoy a relaxing lunch along the stunning shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

On Day 2, after a great night’s sleep at your Alexandria hotel, you’ll visit these incredible places:

Citadel of Qaitbay: Visit the massive Citadel of Qaitbay, built as a defensive fortress in the 15th century. Here, see incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea from the Citadel’s seaside location.

Alexandria Library: You’ll love the design of this modern library, which pays homage to the great Library of Alexandria, lost to antiquity.

After a spectacular trip to Alexandria, your private driver, tour coordinator, and Egyptologist will journey back with you to Cairo.

Check-in to your luxurious Cairo hotel for one final, lovely night in Egypt.

In the morning, savor a delicious breakfast before your driver and tour coordinator see you off at the airport. Parting will be tough, but we look forward to welcoming you to Egypt again!
