Curator’s statement

There is no place in the world more special than the Amalfi coast in Italy. There I said it. I just keep going back. All of Italy is special for that matter, but the Amalfi coast just speaks to me. The culture, the food, the people and the beauty - oh the beauty - are everything you would expect. I don't like an Italy trip full of tours, I prefer building an itinerary that is full of culture, unique experiences and incredible dining options. This can be created for an endless budget or a specific budget. There is a way to make Italy special for everyone.

Day 1: Arrive in Sorrento

You will land in Naples airport and a driver that is booked for you will meet you and drive you to the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento. It over looks the harbor and is the most elegant hotel in Sorrento. Have an aperol spritz and enjoy the amazing views. You will have to remind yourself that this is real!! Have a bite to eat and get to bed early so you can adjust to the time difference. It is the beginning of your three nights in Sorrento!

Day 2: Enjoy a boat ride along the Amalfi coast

Take a taxi down to the marina and board your private "Riva Aquamara" boat (luxury Italian wood boat) with your very own captain and mate who will take you along the Amalfi coast. The views from the water are what you see in pictures and you will travel all the way up to Amalfi, passing many little towns along the way. You will stop for a swim off the coast of Positano and as you dry off you will sip a chilled glass of prosecco with fresh fruit.

At about 2:00pm your captain will take you the ultra exclusive (and my favorite restaurant) La Conca Del Sogno for the most amazing lunch of your life. You have to be in the know to get a reservation for lunch at this hotspot for both Italians and tourists alike. Then you will head back to your hotel reminiscing about the day that felt like a dream.

Day 3: Beach Club & Agriturismo

You will spend a bit of time at your hotel then off to a beach club to spend the day. This beach club is nestled between two mountains of rock and it sits on the sea with views for days. The Maya Beach Club is fairly new and you will spend the day in a luxury lounge chair with pool service and a DJ.

At night you will take a cab to the most fabulous Agriturismo (farm) for dinner. While there are many to choose from, my favorite is Le Grottelle. When you dine at an Agriturismo you eat what is grown on their land. It is fresh, fabulous and is like dining in an Italian's kitchen. This one in particular is run by a family and they cook, serve and they will even pick you up. These places are generally very affordable and about as authentic as you can get.

Day 4: Check into Il San Pietro or Le Sirenuse

Today you will take a car service to your next hotel. Both of my choices are fabulous in Positano. Il San Pietro is on a part of the cliff of Positano on its own. The grounds are perfection and the views of Positano are what dreams are made of. Le Sirenuse is at the top of the hill right in Positano so you can walk down to the beach. It is just a matter of preference but both are exclusive, amazing and usually perfect for celebrity spotting. You will enjoy lunch down on the beach of Il San Pietro and watch the waves crash on the rocks as you dine on the most amazing scampi and pasta.

Day 5: Boat ride to Capri

Today after breakfast a boat will pick you up for another day on the sea. You will go to Capri and circle the entire island, entering the grottos and the boat will anchor so you can swim. You will boat through the Faraglioni rocks and kiss your lover for good luck.

Finally, you will anchor in the marina and enjoy lunch at a restaurant your captain picks for you. Bagni Tiberio Capri is a beach club and restaurant. You can spend time there after lunch or take a taxi up to Capritown or Anacapri for sightseeing and shopping. Later you will enjoy the sunset on the boat before it takes you back to your hotel.

Day 6: Explore Positano

Today you will explore Positano. Perhaps lunch at Chez Black then cocktails after exploring the famous Franco's Bar. You won't want this day to end. The next morning your driver will drive you up the coast to Amalfi and you will check in to Santa Catarina and enjoy the pool and gardens. Then go into the town of Amalfi and spend the next day in Ravello. Finally, before going home, you perhaps will book a few days in Rome because you won't want this vacation to end.
