Amanpuri: Where Aman Begins
Curator’s statement

Amanpuri, where it all began, is a must-visit destination for all Aman Resort lovers out there. I have visited this property multiple times over the decade, and each stay has been extraordinary and memorable in its own way. From the moment you’re greeted at the airport to the time Amanpuri team waves you goodbye while you leave, the service is exceptional.

After a short 40-minute drive from Phuket International Airport and passing a few guarded posts, views of greenery slowly turn into a sea of Thai-style roofs, with one of the prettiest oceans in the background. This view never fails to amaze me when I visit—it always feels like it's my first time in this paradise. Welcome to Amanpuri!

The check-in process is seamless. You have the choice to check in at the lobby while enjoying the view of the hotel pool or from the comfort of your suite. I highly recommend staying in one of the Ocean Pool Suites if you’re traveling solo or as a couple. The Ocean Pool Suites offer a full-size pool inside the suite. If you’re traveling in a much bigger group, stay in the Ocean View Villa instead of in multiple suites. Once you’re checked in, it’s time for you to experience Aman’s magic and exceptional service. To start your stay, feel free to grab your essentials and head to the beach club for some water activities provided by the hotel—or to just relax by the beach.

Amanpuri offers multiple restaurants in-house:

  • Buabok: Thai food—the crab yellow curry is a must-try

  • Arva: Italian

  • Nama: Japanese

  • Beach Terrace: alfresco lunch with a view

  • Sunset Terrace: An amazing spot for sunset cocktails or post-dinner drinks.

I personally didn’t feel the need to leave the resort—not even once—during my four-day stay. I’m sure you will feel the same way, too.

I didn’t have the chance to try many activities at the resort, other than the private dining option, as this property is my relaxation destination. I can’t comment on much outside of the hotel’s complimentary water sports.

The hotel spa has one of the most amazing massages in Thailand. If you need extra privacy, opt for the Spa House, which has private treatment rooms and a plunge pool surrounded by tall tropical trees. The gym is also equipped with the best equipment, and it offers great views.

I highly recommend this property for honeymooners, families, or even solo travelers seeking privacy and top-notch service.

Need to know

Visit from the end of October to late April to enjoy Phuket’s sunny weather. I recommend staying at this resort to relax after a city and island tour.
