Overview

This cruise was my first ocean cruise, and it did not disappoint!

  • 1,924 guests: Just enough to make a few friends on the pickleball court, at the pool, or over a drink, but not too many to keep you waiting in lines for meals or disembarking and embarking at ports.

  • Dining & drinks: Food options galore and specialty restaurants. Book ahead!

  • Onboard amenities: There are always things to do and ways to keep busy, but remember: You’re on vacation. It is okay to take a break and watch the scenery go by on your balcony!

These views never get old, even after day 42!

Port highlights

New Zealand:

  • Auckland: Experience the perfect blend of urban energy and volcanic landscapes in the "City of Sails," where a hike up Mount Eden offers sweeping city views and Waiheke Island entices with vineyards and seaside charm.

  • Tauranga: Discover golden beaches and Maori culture in this sunny coastal town, the gateway to the stunning Mount Maunganui. A great hike up Mount Maunganui offers a chance to stretch your legs and enjoy the views (and some small bird wildlife) before reboarding the ship.

  • Napier: Step back in time with Napier’s iconic Art Deco architecture and world-class wineries situated in the Hawke’s Bay region.

  • Wellington: Dive into New Zealand’s cultural heart, where creative cafés and the renowned Te Papa Museum meet a dramatic, stormy coastline. Pack a windbreaker for windy days, and don’t miss the surrounding hills dotted with sheep farms that showcase the country’s pastoral charm.

  • Picton: Nestled at the gateway to the stunning Marlborough Sounds, Picton provides easy access to New Zealand’s premier wine country—sip your way through world-class sauvignon blancs and boutique cellars on a scenic tasting tour of the renowned Marlborough wine region.

  • Lyttelton (Christchurch): Step into the historic port of Lyttelton, your gateway to Christchurch’s unique charm. Ride the scenic gondola for sweeping views, drift along the Avon River by punt, or hop on a heritage tram to explore the city’s vibrant heart.

  • Port Chalmers (Dunedin): Discover the artistic charm of this bohemian harbor town, then depart from Dunedin for unforgettable wildlife adventures—spot seals, penguins, and rare royal albatross on a coastal tour of Otago Peninsula from a smaller vessel, accompanied by a knowledgeable captain and mate.

  • Fiordland National Park: Enjoy the view from your balcony (or bed!), from the ship's interior sitting areas, while walking around the track, or even on the top deck, and be awed by towering cliffs, mirror-like lakes, and dramatic fjords in one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders.

Sailing off the coast of Fiordland National Park felt like stepping into Jurassic Park. No dinosaurs were seen.

Australia:

  • Hobart: Experience cool-climate wines and world-class art in this charming Tasmanian port, then visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to meet kangaroos, wombats, and the iconic Tasmanian devil up close, all amid stunning natural surroundings.

  • Melbourne: Experience the vibrant pulse of Australia’s cultural capital, renowned for its hidden laneways, international cuisine, and contemporary art scene.

  • Sydney: Take a selfie at the iconic Opera House, surf the waves at Bondi Beach, and walk the scenic coastal path to Coogee—all while soaking in the energy of Australia’s most glamorous harbor city, where world-class dining and waterfront adventures await.

Imagine waking up too late to see the views as the ship pulls into Sydney Harbor, only to open the curtains of your balcony and find the Sydney Opera House shining brightly in the night.

South Pacific:

  • New Caledonia: Experience a slice of France in the South Pacific, where crystal-clear lagoons invite you to snorkel among vibrant coral reefs, island time moves slowly, and the laid-back tropical charm captivates.

  • Vanuatu: Explore pristine reefs, volcanic terrains, and vibrant island traditions in this paradise for adventure lovers.

  • Fiji: Say “Bula!” to paradise with soft beaches, warm waters, and some of the friendliest locals in the world.

  • American Samoa: Discover lush rainforests, stunning coastlines, and a vibrant Polynesian culture in this hidden gem of a US territory.

  • Hawai'i: Aloha encounters adventure in Hawai'i, where volcanic wonders, lush jungles, and endless beaches provide something for every type of traveler.

  • Victoria, BC: With its charming harbor, blooming summer gardens, and a blend of British elegance and coastal beauty, Victoria invites you to enjoy afternoon tea, spot orcas, and explore vibrant local culture all in one relaxed seaside escape.

  • Seattle: From the vibrant Pike Place Market to the snow-capped peaks in the distance, Seattle offers coffee, creativity, and coastal cool all in one.

I will never forget snorkeling at Amedee Island and hope that all future adventures live up to the simplicity of my time on this island.

Need to know

  • Have It All Package: I strongly recommend including drinks and Wi-Fi in this package. You’ll never be thirsty and will always stay connected!

  • Laundry Package: The best laundry service! Folded, ironed, or on hangers—your choice! Returning home with a fully cleaned suitcase of clothes only extends your vacation and makes unpacking easier when you return!

  • Living in a cabin: Every cruiser has their tips and tricks. Mine include magnetic hooks, clips, and a collapsible laundry basket!

  • Motion sickness: Pack everything (wristbands, patches, and pills), just in case! You never know when you might encounter rough seas. A day with medicine is better than a day spent in bed.

  • Make the most of travel days: From airport lounge passes to exploring during a layover, there’s always a way to enhance your adventure!
