Curator’s statement
My travels to the United Kingdom and years of cruising opened my eyes to the delightful world of tea. I particularly developed a passion for afternoon tea, which features an assortment of sandwiches, scones, and petit fours. The experience of enjoying these treats while sipping tea has become one of my favorite indulgences. It’s an excellent way to relax and savor the moment.

During my recent cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, I was delighted to discover the exquisite experience of Afternoon Tea at the Graycliff Hotel. Nestled just a short, picturesque walk uphill from the bustling cruise port, the Graycliff Hotel stands proudly next to the historic Government House. This elegant establishment was constructed initially as a colonial mansion and has since evolved into a luxurious hotel and fine-dining restaurant, earning its reputation as the Caribbean’s first five-star restaurant.
The Afternoon Tea experience at Graycliff begins with an extensive menu that offers a variety of imported teas, each chosen for its unique flavor profile, alongside the local favorite, Bahamian Bush Tea. Graycliff’s organic coffee is offered to coffee enthusiasts in traditional French press, rich espresso, or creamy cappuccino styles.
As guests savor their selected beverage, they are treated to a beautifully arranged three-tiered display featuring a delightful assortment of delicate tea sandwiches filled with fresh, local ingredients, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves, and an array of elegant petit fours. To satisfy any sweet tooth, the menu also includes luxurious chocolates crafted by the renowned Graycliff Chocolatier, known for its artisanal quality and rich flavors.

For an added touch of indulgence, guests can enhance their Afternoon Tea experience with a glass of champagne, making the occasion truly special. This refined setting, complete with attentive service and an atmosphere of grace and sophistication, creates the perfect backdrop for a memorable afternoon in Nassau.
