Curator’s statement
Grand Teton National Park is a dream for anyone looking for a laid-back escape with a heavy dose of natural beauty without sacrificing a good night's sleep. It has incredible views of the jagged peaks throughout the park, many peaceful lakes, and so much wildlife to see. There are hikes for all levels, and it is only 25 minutes outside of Jackson Hole! This means you can enjoy a sunset hike and a steak dinner all on the same night!

Things to do in Wyoming

Jenny Lake Scenic Area: Take the shuttle boat across the lake, then do the short hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. This is super scenic, not too difficult and one of the most iconic spots in the park.
Scenic drives: Teton Park Road and Moose-Wilson Road offer some of the best views without even getting out of your car.
Must-stop pullouts: Snake River Overlook (made famous by Ansel Adams), Oxbow Bend and Schwabacher’s Landing.
Wildlife watching: Some of the best sports include Elk Ranch Flats, Willow Flats and around the Snake River. You might see moose, elk, bison, bears, eagles and even the occasional wolf if you’re lucky.
Jackson Lake: Activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, scenic boat cruises or just chilling on the shore. The views of the Tetons from the water are next-level.
Hiking (Casual to Moderate): There is Taggart Lake Trail, which is 3.8 miles round trip, flat and peaceful. Phelps Lake via the Rockefeller Preserve is a moderate trail with quiet forests and a beautiful lake. Lakeshore Trail at Colter Bay is an easy walk with great water and mountain views.
Mormon Row Historic District: See the iconic old barns with the Tetons in the background — perfect for photos, especially at sunrise.
Horseback riding with a view: Jackson is a cowboy's dream vacation, so of course you have to add a guided trail ride up to the top of the incredible Tetons. I highly recommend morning rides!
Float trip on the Snake River: A mellow way to experience the park’s beauty and spot wildlife. Guided float trips are super relaxing and scenic.
Stargazing: The skies are incredibly dark out there. Bring a blanket, a pizza and just lay back at night — you’ll probably see the Milky Way.
Watching the sunrise anywhere in the park: Schwabacher’s Landing is the most popular spot to watch the sunrise, and with that comes the crowds. But there are so many turnouts and pull-offs that offer stunning views of the pink and purple-painted mountains without the crowds asundefinedwell.
Places to eat & drink in Wyoming

Persephone Bakery in Jackson Hole is a cozy, French-inspired café started by husband-and-wife team Kevin and Ali Cohane. It’s a local favorite for its amazing pastries, chocolate croissants and yummy lattes all served up with a laid-back, mountain-town vibe. This my personal favorite breakfast spot in town!
Roosevelts is an American grill in downtown Jackson Hole. This spot was named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt. The restaurant features a cozy, two-story space adorned with historical photos and memorabilia, creating a warm, speakeasy-style atmosphere. If you go, you have to try a salad with the cornbread croutons. I could literally eat those by themselves!
The Restaurant in The White Buffalo Club is my favorite prime steakhouse in Jackson Hole. It's one of the few 100 percent USDA Prime steakhouses in the country, offering a variety of fine foods and an extensive wine list. The elk steak is 10/10!
Snake River Roasting Co. is a beloved specialty coffee roaster and café nestled in the heart of Jackson Hole. They are renowned for its small-batch, high-altitude roasting that captures the adventurous spirit of the Tetons. I always buy a bag of freshly roasted beans when I am in the area.
The Silver Dollar Bar is the best spot to go swing dancing your little heart out. The best bar vibe and the best cocktails in Jackson Hole!
The Cowboy Bar. If you've heard of Jackson Hole, you've heard of three things: Mormon Row, Schwabacher's Landing and The Cowboy Bar. It has the iconic neon lights and all the local craft brews you could ask for!
Pop into Deli Dogs for a good quick bite and one of the best Hot Dogs you'll ever have!
Need to know
If you can, make sure to fly in on the right side of the plane for an up-close view of the Tetons!
The mountains are painted in pink at sunrise, so make sure you get up for at least one sunrise during your trip!
Dress in layers. Weather shifts fast in the Tetons. Mornings can be cold, afternoons warm and storms can roll in quickly. Bring a light rain jacket, even on sunny days.
Don’t skip bear safety. Carry bear spray and know how to use it (you can rent it in Jackson). Make noise on trails, hike in groups and never leave food out.
Cell service is spotty. Download maps offline or grab a paper map at the visitor center. Don’t rely on GPS in remote areas — it’s not always reliable.
Visit popular spots early or late. Places like Jenny Lake get busy at midday and Schwabacher Landing get busy in the morning into-midday. Go early or later in the afternoon to enjoy them with fewer crowds.
