Things to do in Dubai

Experience the Burj Khalifa at a private lounge: While most people go to the main observation deck, I prefer a more intimate experience. Booking a table at one of the top-floor lounges offers the same breathtaking views but with a sense of exclusivity and personalized service. It’s the perfect way to feel like a true VIP.
Explore the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood: This is a part of Dubai that many travelers miss. It’s an escape from the city’s futuristic skyscrapers and a journey into its past. I always enjoy getting lost in the narrow alleyways and discovering the small art galleries and traditional cafés. It reminds me of the importance of the city’s heritage.
Go on a private desert safari: A desert safari is a classic Dubai experience, but I recommend doing it privately. You can escape the large tour groups and have the desert all to yourself. One of my most memorable experiences was a private dinner under the stars, with a personal chef preparing traditional Emirati dishes.
Discover the art and design scene: Dubai is a creative hub. I love exploring the Alserkal Avenue district, an industrial compound that has been transformed into a vibrant cultural center. It’s a great place to see contemporary art, innovative design studios, and unique coffee shops.
Visit the gold and spice souks: For a truly authentic experience, a trip to the old souks is a must. The sights, smells, and sounds are overwhelming in the best way. My personal tip is to go with a local guide to navigate the labyrinthine alleys and to learn the art of bargaining.
Places to eat & drink in Dubai

Ossiano: This Michelin-starred restaurant is located inside the Atlantis, The Palm aquarium. I love the feeling of dining surrounded by marine life—it’s an experience that truly transports you. The menu is a journey in itself, but the seafood tasting menu is a non-negotiable.
COYA Dubai: My go-to for vibrant energy and incredible Peruvian food. It’s the kind of place where the music, the decor, and the delicious food combine for an unforgettable night. My personal tip is to start with a pisco sour at the bar before moving to your table—the atmosphere is unmatched.
Armani/Ristorante: For an unforgettable fine dining experience with a view of the Dubai Fountain show, this is my top recommendation. The service is impeccable, and I always order the saffron risotto—it’s a perfect, decadent taste of Italy in the heart of Dubai.
CÉ LA VI Dubai: Located on the top of the Address Sky View hotel, this is the place to be for a stylish night out. The atmosphere is electric, and the skyline views are incredible. My personal tip is to go for an early evening drink to catch the sunset, then stay for dinner.
Zuma: My go-to for incredible Japanese food in a sleek and vibrant setting. The vibe is always buzzing, perfect for a lively dinner. Don’t miss their black cod—it’s a classic for a reason.
Pierchic: Located on its own pier with breathtaking views of the Burj Al Arab, this is one of the most romantic spots in Dubai. The menu focuses on fresh seafood, and it’s the perfect place for a celebratory lunch or an intimate dinner.
The Dubai Coffee Museum: For a hidden gem that many tourists miss, I love visiting this place in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. It’s a serene escape from the city and a chance to learn about the rich history of coffee. I always get the traditional Arabic coffee to enjoy the authentic experience.
Need to know
While getting around Dubai is simple with taxis and private cars, my top recommendation is to use the local Metro to fully appreciate the city’s modern infrastructure. The trains are spotless and offer a unique perspective, especially on the elevated sections. For a truly unforgettable experience, consider a helicopter tour over the Palm Jumeirah—it’s the best way to grasp the scale and sheer ambition of the city’s design.
My personal tip for first-time visitors is to also venture beyond Dubai. For me, a must-do is a day trip to Abu Dhabi. The Emirates Palace holds a special place in my heart, as I had the privilege of staying there for over a year back in 2014. It was during that time I rescued a kitten that I eventually brought back to Italy, where it lived for over 11 years. A visit to the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is also essential—its beauty is truly breathtaking. For car enthusiasts, the Ferrari World theme park is a unique experience not to be missed.
Remember to wear comfortable shoes. Dubai is a city meant for exploring, from its massive malls to the historic souks. Most importantly, be sure to book your top restaurant reservations and exclusive tours, like the helicopter ride, well in advance to ensure a flawless trip.
