Things to do in Hudson Valley

Art & History

Art Omi: Located in Ghent, New York, a short drive from Hudson, New York - this sculptural park is the perfect destination to see unique art and get a nice walk in.

Storm King: Located in New Windsor, New York - this is one of the most popular art destinations in the Hudson Valley. Large-scale sculptures by 20th and 21st century artists are located across 500 acres of land. Be sure to pack your walking shoes for this one.

Dia Beacon: Located in Beacon, New York - a beautiful contemporary art museum that is housed in the former Nabisco factory. Conveniently located right by the Beacon train station and downtown. This is a great stop on a trip exploring Beacon.

Olana: Located in Hudson, New York - this historical estate sits high up overlooking the Hudson River. Previously the home of Federic Edwin Church, the grounds and home are stunning and offer a beautiful view of the Hudson Valley.

Towns

Hudson: No trip to the Hudson Valley is complete without an afternoon walking up and down Warren Street, popping into the many independent boutiques, antique shops and galleries.

Millbrook: This quaint town is home to a great Antique Center. The town also features other independent shops and a cute diner worth checking out.

Rhinebeck: A beautiful historic town filled with local shops and restaurants to discover.

Kingston: A more hipster, artist inspired town worth exploring.

Hikes

There are endless places to hike and explore in the Hudson Valley. Here are some of the top hikes in the area.

Bish Bash Falls: An easier hike, out and back trail with a beautiful waterfall.

Harriman State Park: The second largest state park in New York, offers many trails and sites to see.

Mount Beacon: A great hike to add onto a day trip or weekend in Beacon.

Places to eat & drink in Hudson Valley

Stissing House: Led by chef Claire Deboer and named one of the 50 most exciting restaurants in the United States by New York Times, this restaurant is worth planning a trip around. Set in a historic building, the restaurant is solely lit by candles and offers locally sourced cuisine cooked on an open-fire grill. A must visit.

Feast and Floret: A cozy farm to table restaurant located in Hudson. This restaurant features delicious seasonal foods and also has local flowers decorated throughout the house available to make into your own bouquet to take home.

Cafe Mutton: A James Beard semi-finalist, this tiny casual café is worth the hype. Their always changing menu offers delicious brunch, lunch and dinner (on Fridays only).

West Taghkanic Diner: The best stop off the Taconic Highway. More than just a diner.

Bartlett House: Bakery and café, located in a history home in Ghent, New York.

Lola Pizza: A wood-fired pizza and cozy wine bar in Kingston, New York.

Hudson Valley Brewery: Located in Beacon, New York, a local brewery serving a variety of beers and bites.

Left Bank Ciders: A cozy cidery located in Catskill, New York featuring fireplaces and outdoor areas to hang. This is a great spot to visit all year round.

Mel the Bakery: After making a name for herself in New York City, Mel the Baker is now located in Hudson. Be sure to get there early before everything sells out!
