Curator’s statement
Capri has a way of capturing your heart with its luminous light, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and the iconic Faraglioni that become pure magic at sunset. In late spring especially, it feels at its absolute best—perfect weather, the scent of lemons drifting through the air, and days meant to be enjoyed slowly, between scenic walks and long seaside dinners. It’s a place where nature, understated elegance, and authenticity come together so effortlessly that every moment—like the retreat I hosted there—feels seamless and special. Compared to the Amalfi Coast, which tends to attract more American tourism, Capri feels more intimate and timeless—truly a place everyone should experience at least once.

Things to do in Capri

View of Capri coastline
Capri is wonderfully walkable, and, in my opinion, exploring it on foot is the only real way to connect with its nature. The island is small and manageable, with the town center, the Piazzetta, and the surrounding lanes all pedestrian friendly and easy to enjoy at a slow pace.
Once you’ve checked into your hotel, start from Capri’s most iconic spot—the Piazzetta—and let yourself wander. Stroll along Via Vittorio Emanuele toward the legendary Grand Hotel Quisisana, then continue onto Via Camerelle, lined with elegant boutiques. Follow the road all the way to Via Tragara, where the walk ends with unforgettable views of the Faraglioni. On your way back, take your time through Via Cesina, Via Fuorlovado, and Via Le Botteghe for charming independent shops and unique design finds.
Some of my favorite scenic walks include the Arco Naturale, Pizzolungo, and the spectacular Via Krupp, reopened in 2023. Carved dramatically into the limestone cliffs between 1901 and 1902 at the request of Friedrich Alfred Krupp, it connects the Giardini di Augusto and the Certosa di San Giacomo to Marina Piccola, with breathtaking switchbacks overlooking the sea.
The Arco Naturale—a striking Paleolithic rock formation—frames incredible views over the Penisola Sorrentina, especially Punta Campanella, and the small islands of Li Galli. You can also spot it from the water, so if you’re doing a boat tour around the island, ask your skipper to show it to you.
From Belvedere di Tragara begins the Pizzolungo trail, which runs along the cliffs toward the Arco Naturale, passing above Punta Masullo and the striking Villa Malaparte, built by Curzio Malaparte.
Other beautiful walks include Villa Jovis, the Sentiero dei Fortini in Anacapri (from the magical Grotta Azzurra—which I absolutely recommend—to the Faro di Punta Carena), and the scenic descent to Marina Piccola. You can also walk between Capri and Anacapri or down to Marina Grande, just be prepared for some steep climbs.
And for a truly memorable day by the sea, you simply can’t miss Da Luigi ai Faraglioni!
Places to eat & drink in Capri
Personally, I’ve experienced all of these—and each one truly left its mark.
La Colombaia, set within the legendary Grand Hotel Quisisana, offers a beautifully refined Mediterranean dining experience. Expect impeccable fresh seafood, seasonal local ingredients, and an elegant, romantic atmosphere that feels timeless.
Da Paolino is simply iconic. Dining beneath its lemon grove is something you won’t forget—traditional Caprese dishes, lemon-inspired specialties, fresh catch of the day, and the famous Bomba Paolino. And yes, you might spot a VIP or two.
Close to the Giardini di Augusto, Il Geranio is all about the view—with the Faraglioni right in front of you. The cuisine is refined yet authentic, the setting intimate and elegant—ideal for a special evening just steps from the heart of Capri.
In Anacapri, Il Riccio—part of Capri Palace Jumeirah—is a destination in itself. Perched dramatically above the sea near the Grotta Azzurra, it combines elevated seafood cuisine with one of the most spectacular terraces on the island. And the legendary “dessert room”? Completely unforgettable—especially the scent.
An aperitivo at Caffè Caso is a ritual I would never skip—a true Capri classic just moments from the Piazzetta.
And to close the night, there’s nothing like Taverna Anema e Core—live music, retro wooden interiors, lantern-lit ambiance, frescoed walls… the pure, unapologetic dolce vita of Capri.
Need to know
Capri can be reached by sea from Naples (from Molo Beverello or Calata Porta di Massa), Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, and Salerno.
The main options are fast hydrofoils (approximately 45–50 minutes from Naples) or slower, more economical ferries.
