A returned Peace Corps Volunteer with champagne taste on a beer budget. I like to plan my next destination while on the last day of my current one.
CLT, unless we decided to take a road trip somewhere first!
My travel style
I lived in a remote village without running water or electricity during my time with the Peace Corps. I’ve since acquired a taste for a comfortable bed and ‘Do Not Disturb’ door tag. If I travel twice to the same place, then it’s either because of how amazing it was or because I couldn’t do it all in one visit. My ideal adventure day is waking up early for a long hike, finding a unique adventure like abseiling a waterfall and ending with a beautiful sunset vista on the way to pizza and beer.
Hilton Waikoloa Village
On the Big Island’s Kona Coast, a sprawling beachfront playground with two distinctive towers and a mega watersports complex.
Hilton Grand Vacations Club La Pacifica Los Cabos
Oceanside property nearby the Sea of Cortez with breezy rooms, four pools and a golf course.
The Elmhurst Inn
Cozy B&B in a former house from the 1880s with country-inspired rooms and suites.
Recently returned from:
Exploring National and State Parks in Las Vegas.
Eating my weight in lobster on the Maine Coast.
Park hopping and eating all the goodies in Walt Disney World.
Swimming with the sea turtles in Hawai’i.
See the Big Five on a sustainable safari in southeast Africa.
Island hopping in Southeast Asia.
Sea, air and land to visit Alaska’s wild and wonderful National Parks.
Dine in an underwater restaurant and sleep in an over-the-water bungalow in the Maldives.
One thing I can't travel without...
My ‘America the Beautiful’ pass.
Two truths, one lie:
I once attended the birthday party for a Minister of Parliament in Uganda.
I’ve whitewater rafted three of the top five rivers in the world.
I’ve taken over the controls of an airplane mid-air.
