Staying at The Westin Bayshore Vancouver is one of those experiences that perfectly captures what makes Vancouver so special. You’re right on the water with views of the marina and mountains, and watching seaplanes fly right past your room all day long adds such a unique, memorable touch. It’s just steps from Stanley Park and the city, making it easy to walk, bike, or simply sit and take it all in. It’s one of those places where nature and city life come together in the best way.

Seattle is one of those places that just feels easy and fun with family. We love starting the day walking through Pike Place Market, then grabbing lunch at Athenian Seafood Restaurant and Bar, the iconic spot from Sleepless in Seattle. We’ve stayed at both Fairmont Olympic Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle, both in great locations and super easy for exploring. We also love heading to Chinatown-International District for hot tea and wandering shops, stopping by the Seattle Aquarium, and one of our favorite memories was going whale watching by boat. It’s such a perfect mix of city, water, and little adventures that always makes the trip feel special.

Staying at Fairmont Empress in Victoria feels like stepping into a slower, more charming way of traveling. Everything centers around the harbor. You can walk everywhere, take your time, and just enjoy the scenery. Afternoon tea at the Empress is such a special tradition, sitting by the windows watching boats go by, and it’s something that never gets old. It’s one of those destinations that feels relaxing, nostalgic, and just a little bit magical.

Fairmont El San Juan Hotel is one of those places that instantly feels vibrant and full of life. Iceland is one of those places that feels completely magical from the moment you arrive. Kruger National Park is one of those places that completely takes you out of your everyday life and drops you into something wild and unforgettable. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has always been such a special place for me—I’ve been coming here since it first opened, and it’s still one of my favorite Disney hotels. I love how you can hop on a boat straight to Magic Kingdom or head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. It just makes everything feel easy and fun. Some of my favorite moments are actually the quiet ones, sitting by the lake, taking in the scenery, and watching the Electrical Water Parade go by. The Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay feels like such an easy, refreshing place to stay right on the water, with those beautiful bay views that instantly put you in a relaxed mindset. I love how it’s just outside the busier parts of Miami, so you get a little more space and calm, but you’re still so close to everything. Waking up and looking out over the marina and skyline has that classic Miami feel without the chaos. It’s one of those spots that makes a quick trip feel like a true getaway.

The Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is such a perfect spot when visiting Arizona State University, especially being right on Mill Avenue where everything is happening. You can walk out the door and immediately feel the energy of campus life, restaurants, coffee shops, and that fun college buzz. What I love most is looking out and seeing Tempe Butte nearby, along with the stunning views of Camelback Mountain in the distance, it gives you that classic Arizona backdrop and makes it all feel very “you’re here.” It’s such a great balance of being right in the middle of it all while still having a modern, comfortable retreat to come back to.

The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas is such a perfect home base when visiting Southern Methodist University, and even making the short trip over to Texas Christian University, home of the Horned Frogs. It’s close enough to campus life, but just far enough to feel like your own little retreat. After a full day of tours and information overload, coming back here feels like a reset, and honestly, it’s kind of fun when your student comes to hang out by the pool and soak up a little of that Ritz life with you. It just makes the whole college visit experience feel more relaxed, special, and a lot more you.

Paris is always a good idea, but where you stay makes all the difference. The Four Seasons delivers that perfect mix of location, comfort, and effortless service. It’s the kind of hotel you actually look forward to coming back to—and the hot chocolate alone is worth the stay.

Cairo was the final stop on our Egypt trip, after experiencing a Nile River cruise that ended up being one of the most incredible parts of the journey. Staying at The Peninsula makes it feel even more special, especially being right by Oak Street and Michigan Avenue for shopping and everything nearby. Scottsdale has this perfect balance where you still feel connected to everything, but far enough away to truly unwind. Staying at Four Seasons Troon North feels like you’re tucked up in the desert mountains on your own, it’s quiet, peaceful, and a complete escape from the city. I love how the views stretch forever and everything just slows down a bit. Whether you’re there in the cooler months enjoying hikes and crisp mornings or in the warmer season soaking up the sun by the pool, it really works any time of year.

Sedona is one of those places where you instantly slow down the second you arrive, it just has that effect on you. Staying tucked into the canyon at Enchantment makes it even better. It’s quiet, grounding, and completely surrounded by those unreal red rocks. Honestly, I feel like I’m in Disney Cars Land half the time. Alaska is one of those places that I just keep going back to. I’ve been more than five times, and somehow it never gets old. I’ve done it every way—cruising with Celebrity and other lines, staying at hotels, and even exploring by motorhome, so I really know what works and what’s worth it. We’ve seen all the wildlife, from bears in the river to whales and everything in between, and eaten more fresh crab than I can count. The Breakers Palm Beach is special to me because it reflects everything I love about being born and raised in Florida: timeless beauty, coastal elegance, and that easy, sunshine-filled lifestyle. Edgewood Tahoe Resort is special to me because it brings together everything I love about Lake Tahoe, a place that’s always had my heart and where I even lived for a while. You can spend the day hiking, hitting the golf course, sitting poolside, or slipping into the spa, and it all feels effortless. The food is genuinely great, and I love that you’re close to downtown and skiing while still feeling peaceful and right on the lake. It’s the kind of place that reminds me every time why Tahoe never gets old.

This stop meant a lot to us because it was the moment our trip finally slowed down after Rome, a cruise, and busy days in Barcelona. ZEL Costa Brava gave our family space to spread out, unwind, and just be together, whether that meant cliff jumping, hiking into town for pizza, or lingering over long meals with a view. The mix of history in Tossa de Mar, the wild coastline, and the resort’s relaxed, welcoming vibe made it feel both special and easy. Gudvangen Fjordtell is one of those places that really stays with you. It’s tucked right into the fjord, surrounded by waterfalls and steep mountains, so every time you step outside it feels kind of unreal. The Viking setting completely wowed my kids, from the longhouse-style spaces to the fires crackling at night, and I loved how cozy and peaceful it felt after a day of exploring. I’ve been to Norway before on a road trip and completely fell in love with it, but we didn’t make it all the way up to the far north. This cruise gave me the chance to finally experience places like Tromsø and reach North Cape, which truly felt like being at the top of the world. Staying at Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya Livingstone Resort in Livingstone, Zambia felt so peaceful and special. The kind of place that instantly makes you slow down and just soak it all in. One of my favorite memories was sitting by the pool, looking out over the Zambezi River, and spotting a hippo hanging out on the other side like it was the most normal thing in the world. Seeing Victoria Falls from both Zambia and Zimbabwe made the experience even more unforgettable, kind of like seeing Niagara Falls from both the United States and Canada. And with the resort’s river boat rides, it’s such a beautiful way to take in the scenery and feel completely present in the moment.

The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami is one of my favorite places to slow down and fully relax. It has that peaceful, tucked-away feel, but you’re still close enough to everything Miami has to offer if you want it. I love how easy it is to spend the day by the water, grab something great to eat, do a little shopping at Bal Harbour Shops, and just unwind. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel refreshed the second you arrive.

Grand Cayman is one of those places where the water is unreal, the island vibe is easy, and everything instantly feels like vacation the moment you land. I love how it can be as relaxing or adventurous as you want. Beach days on Seven Mile Beach, boat days to Stingray City and Rum Point, and incredible diving and snorkeling right off the island. The food scene is also such a standout, from casual beach bites to unforgettable waterfront dinners. No matter how many times I visit, it always feels like the kind of place I can’t wait to come back to.

We were upgraded to a room with a stunning view overlooking the pool and mountains, and one morning we even spotted a small group of deer wandering by just outside. It was such a peaceful moment that really set the tone for how calm and restorative this resort feels.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge holds such a special place in my heart especially just after the Christmas holidays, when the snow still blankets the cozy cabins and the festive lights shimmer across the frozen lake. There’s something peaceful and grounding about this spot in Jasper National Park, surrounded by mountains and nature at its quietest. I love skating on the lake, then warming up by the fire afterward, and seeing the resort’s friendly golden retriever who’s there daily to greet guests always makes it feel even more like home. In winter, it transforms into a snow-dusted wonderland, with the sound of après-ski music drifting through the village and the scent of fresh pretzels and schnitzel wafting from warm, welcoming restaurants. Of course, it’s home to some of the best skiing in North America, from the legendary Back Bowls to wide, gentle greens perfect for beginners, but there’s just as much magic off the slopes. Whether you’re here for world-class skiing, strolling through boutiques, or soaking in the après scene, Vail delivers the best of alpine charm right here in the Rockies.

Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island is more than a resort—it’s an experience. Ride a tram or boat to explore the lush oceanfront grounds, snorkel in the lagoon, visit dolphins, or float down the lazy river. The saltwater lagoon is naturally fed by the ocean, allowing sea life like fish and turtles to come and go freely. You can even paddleboard or snorkel under the manmade waterfall, where sea turtles gather to eat. With a luau, multiple restaurants, a spa, golf, and cultural activities, it’s Big Island adventure all in one place.

Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of those places where you show up and immediately start wondering how to extend your stay... forever. The pools go on forever, there’s a saltwater lagoon you can float in like a very relaxed pineapple, and the grounds are so pretty it feels like Mother Nature had a glam team. We wandered through tropical gardens, got lost (in a good way), and somehow ended up at the spa more than once—oops. Honestly, if you’re looking for laid-back luxury with a side of mai tai, this is your spot.

Our Four Seasons Hualālai escape was pure Big Island magic from start to finish. I keep returning to this dreamy corner of Hawaii because, quite simply, it’s my favorite place in the world. We snorkeled in the King’s Pond. It’s actually a lava-carved aquarium. We loved gliding past bright fish in the clearest water imaginable. Afternoons were for lounging by the quiet pool, where ocean breezes, chilled pineapple, and warm aloha seemed to float in the air. And as the sun melted into the Pacific, we’d sit on our lanai with tiki torches flickering and waves rolling in, feeling like the rest of the world had quietly slipped away.

Maui will always have a piece of my heart, and the Four Seasons makes it feel like a dream you never want to leave. I kayaked straight from the beach to swim alongside humpback whales in early March. When floating in the water, hearing their songs echo around me as if they were just a few feet away, was one of the most surreal and beautiful moments of my life. The spa is pure bliss, and their robes are so soft and cozy I had no choice but to buy one to bring the feeling home. Dinner at Spago, especially their legendary Peking duck, is a must, and the breakfast spread is a total highlight. You can’t beat lunch or dinner at Ferraro’s, where I spotted whales leaping in the distance during the day, and again at sunset, jumping across the horizon like it was part of the show.

I’ve done this trip twice and would go again in a heartbeat—it’s that special. I’ve seen everyone from 5-year-olds to 90-year-olds loving every minute, because if you’ve got a sense of adventure, this journey is for you. Each day, you’re off the ship exploring a new island—walking alongside giant tortoises, snorkeling with sea lions, and spotting blue-footed boobies up close. The small-group feel, expert naturalist guides, and amazing food, combined with a ship that’s both comfortable and relaxing, make it one of the best multigenerational trips out there—equal parts exciting, educational, and totally unforgettable.

Hawai'i is really special to me for a lot of reasons.
