Curator’s statement
Biltmore is one of those places that feels like stepping into another era, built in the late 1800s and still carrying so much of its original charm. I love how you can spend the day exploring the estate, then unwind with a great meal and beautiful views right on property. There’s a mix of history, scenery, and just enough luxury to make it feel special without being over the top. It’s an easy, memorable getaway that works for couples, families, or even a quick reset.

We arrived at The Inn on Biltmore Estate and immediately felt like we could slow down. There’s something about being on the Biltmore Estate that makes you settle in right away: the views, the quiet, and just the sense that everything is taken care of.
We spent our first afternoon getting our bearings, taking the shuttle down to the estate, and walking around before heading back to the Inn to relax by the pool. That first evening set the tone for the trip; we ended up in the Library Lounge with cocktails, talking about the day and already planning what we wanted to do next.
The next morning, we started with breakfast in The Dining Room overlooking the mountains. It was one of those slow, easy mornings that you don’t rush through. I would definitely recommend ordering something classic: eggs, fresh pastries, and coffee, and just taking your time enjoying the view. We also had dinner there one evening, which felt like a more elevated night without ever needing to leave the property.
One of the highlights was the horse-drawn carriage ride through the estate. Sitting back while our guide shared stories and history as we moved through the grounds made it feel so immersive and different from anything else we did. It was peaceful, scenic, and something we kept talking about afterward. The carriage ride is absolutely worth it; it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our stay.

Touring the Biltmore House itself was another unforgettable experience. Walking through room after room, you really start to grasp the scale of it all. The indoor pool was one of my favorite surprises, along with the massive kitchen, where you can imagine the level of preparation it took to run a home like this. The grand dining room and all of the fireplaces throughout the house were incredible; it truly blew my mind. I kept thinking about what it must have taken not only to build a home like this, but to maintain it and staff it at that level.
I’ve actually been here twice, and I have to say, visiting around Christmas brought a completely different and exciting twist to touring the house. They really go all out for the holidays, and it makes the experience feel even more magical and festive. That said, even if you can’t go during the holidays, it’s truly wonderful at any time of year.
We spent time at Antler Hill Village, doing a wine tasting, walking through the shops, and stopping by the barn where the kids played games like checkers and just had fun being outside. For lunch, we stopped at Stable Café, which is such a fun setting inside the old horse stable. I would definitely go for the burger, tomato bisque, or the chicken pot pie; all really comforting after a morning of exploring.
Another great stop was Cedric’s Tavern, which has more of a lively, casual feel. My husband loved the fish and chips, and we had to try a local beer flight. The shepherd’s pie and house pickles are also worth ordering and great for sharing.
Coming back to the Inn each evening felt like a reset. Whether it was dinner in The Dining Room, something lighter at The Bistro, or just sitting in the Library Lounge with a cocktail, everything about the experience felt easy, comfortable, and just a little bit elevated.

The hotel experience
Staying at the Inn is about more than just the room; it’s everything that comes with it. Your stay includes access to the estate grounds, gardens, Antler Hill Village, and winery for the duration of your visit. There’s also a very easy round-trip shuttle that runs every 30 minutes between the Inn, Biltmore House, and the village, making it completely effortless to get around.
The service is what you would expect from a Forbes Travel Guide property, attentive but not overdone. Amenities include valet or self-parking, daily housekeeping, evening turndown, concierge service, bell service, EV charging stations, and in-room dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Inside your room, you’ll find everything you need, Nespresso machine, plush robes and slippers, quality bath products, and comfortable bedding that makes it easy to settle in.
If you can, request a mountain view room or upgrade to Chateau Tier for the added lounge access, it really enhances the stay.

Final thoughts
There really is so much to discover, explore, and enjoy here. This is a perfect trip for couples, families, or even multi-generational travel.
If you can, plan at least two full days on the property. There is more to do than you think, and you don’t want to feel rushed trying to fit it all in.
Spring and fall are especially beautiful with the gardens in bloom or the leaves changing, but the holidays are also magical with everything decorated. Being there at Christmas adds an extra level of excitement; everything feels festive, warm, and just a little bit more special.
Between the thoughtful service, the ease of getting around the estate, and all of the experiences right at your fingertips, everything feels effortless from start to finish.
And at some point during your stay, you may find yourself thinking… this must be what it felt like to live like a Vanderbilt.
