Curator’s statement
I expected luxury in Dubai, but I didn’t expect Conrad Dubai to feel this comfortable, convenient, and surprisingly relaxing. Between skyline views, incredible dining, and easy access to the city’s biggest attractions, it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the trip. It’s the kind of hotel I’d confidently recommend to clients, and one I’d absolutely stay at again myself. Here’s what stood out most from my stay.

I expected luxury in Dubai, but I didn’t expect Conrad Dubai to feel this comfortable, convenient, and surprisingly relaxing. From the moment we pulled up, the hotel made an impression. The lobby alone deserves attention, soaring ceilings, polished marble everywhere, oversized floral displays, and a dramatic textured marble wall behind the coffee lounge that immediately makes you think, okay… this place is fancy. Check in somehow included cappuccinos topped with foam art of a girl holding a coffee mug and the words “All you need is love and coffee,” alongside tiny desserts and sugar candies. I’m easy to impress with coffee, but coffee with inspirational foam art? Even better.

A nice treat to welcome me while checking in
We visited in the summer, and while everyone warned us about the heat, it honestly bothered us less than expected thanks to hotel pools, beaches, and air conditioned attractions. We stayed three nights and all agreed we should have stayed longer. Dubai is one of those places where you can fill your days with beaches, gardens, skiing indoors, luxury hotels, waterparks, and unique experiences, then still leave with things left on your list.

Walking into our room, my kids immediately asked if we had secretly been upgraded to a suite. We had not. This was apparently a standard room, which was shocking because it was enormous with a walk in closet bigger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. There was plenty of room to spread out and a welcome date treat waiting for us that disappeared quickly thanks to my family. Conrad Dubai somehow manages to feel luxurious without feeling stuffy.

Dining & amenities
One of the highlights of this hotel, and something worth waking up early for, was breakfast at Ballaró. I’ve stayed at many hotels and this buffet stood out. The spread stretched with cuisines from around the world, fresh pastries, cheeses, fruit, live cooking stations, made-to-order eggs, and dishes from multiple cultures. What fascinated me was the completely separate pork station, including dedicated serving utensils and silverware, thoughtfully done to respect different dietary and religious practices while still offering variety for international travelers. Then came fresh honey dripping directly from a honeycomb beside artisan breads, and a chocolate waterfall surrounded by fruit. My kids were suspiciously interested in fruit that morning, and by fruit, I mean fruit covered in chocolate. Breakfast here felt less like grabbing food before sightseeing and more like an event.

On the breakfast buffet
We also enjoyed dinner at Ballaró and loved the bruschetta, oven-roasted tomato soup, and Black Angus beef tenderloin. If you stay here, come hungry. The restaurants throughout Conrad Dubai make it easy to spend much of your trip enjoying the property itself. Poolside at Bliss 6, surrounded by tropical landscaping, palms, and waterfalls, we ordered watermelon and feta, club sandwiches, wraps, Greek style chicken skewers, and margarita pizza for the kids. After spending time swimming at Dubai beach, returning to lounge by the pool became one of my favorite slower moments of the trip.
Isla, tucked into the lobby, became an easy stop for coffee and pastries in the morning or mid-afternoon. Kimpo looked lively and fun, inspired by Seoul’s fried chicken and beer scene with DJs and energy, though we didn’t make it there. Conrad Spa also deserves mentioning, with thermal lounges, pools, and Turkish hammam experiences designed to make you forget your inbox exists. This is genuinely a hotel where you could spend days and never need to leave.
Beaches
The public beaches in Dubai surprised me. They felt clean, organized, and family friendly with lounge chairs to relax in, walking paths, and clear water for swimming while looking back toward the skyline. I even found myself reading educational signs explaining marine life and conservation efforts. Somewhere between swimming and learning about sea turtles, I realized Dubai beaches are apparently more educational than some field trips. Spending a few hours there before returning to the hotel pool ended up being one of our favorite combinations.

Around Dubai
Outside the hotel, Dubai constantly feels larger than life. My girls loved going to Saya Café at City Walk, a playful spot filled with beautiful desserts and drinks. It felt designed to make teenagers happy, which in itself deserves an award. We also visited Dubai Miracle Garden, which honestly felt whimsical with giant floral displays and pathways surrounded by blooms. It’s one of those places where you walk around thinking, who waters all of this?

Dubai Miracle Garden
The Mall of the Emirates ended up being more entertaining than expected. Inside is Ski Dubai, where families can ski, snowboard, meet penguins, ride a chairlift, zip line, or enjoy winter activities while outside temperatures soar. We skipped skiing this time, but it absolutely looked worth doing. Also in the same mall, I unexpectedly found Garrett Popcorn from Chicago and immediately bought some because apparently my travel personality includes finding familiar snacks in unexpected countries.

Indoor ski Dubai
We took a drive out to Atlantis The Palm, impressive even from outside, especially if visiting the waterpark. We also spent time at Dubai Mall, one of my favorite places in the city. Joe’s Café became an easy dinner stop where we enjoyed burgers and pasta while sitting outdoors watching the fountain show with the skyline glowing around us and the Burj Khalifa towering overhead. Casual dinner with one of the most famous skylines in the world is peak Dubai. I also loved wandering toward the Dior café area in the mall.
We actually had a desert excursion planned, something I was especially looking forward to because dune bashing, camel rides, falcon experiences, and dinner in the desert seemed like such a classic Dubai experience. One of my kids ended up not feeling well, so we skipped it. Honestly, it just gave us another reason to come back.
Takeaways
Flying into and out of Dubai may have been one of the most memorable parts, though. Looking down from the airplane window, seeing man-made islands already filled with buildings beside newer islands still being developed was fascinating. Dubai constantly feels like it’s building something bigger, taller, or somehow more dramatic.
Three nights wasn’t enough. Dubai still managed to surprise us. Conrad Dubai became more than where we slept. It became part of the trip itself. Between the giant rooms, memorable food, thoughtful touches, incredible breakfast buffet, beautiful spa, and location that made exploring easy, it became one of those hotels I’d confidently recommend to clients and absolutely stay at again.
My kids still think we secretly booked a suite, and I’m still thinking about the breakfast buffet. That probably says everything.

Need to know
We visited in the summer and the heat bothered us much less than expected because so many attractions, malls, and experiences are indoors or connected.
If visiting Dubai, I’d stay longer than three nights, come hungry, and leave room in your schedule for unexpected favorites.
